Background

Seb returned from serviing his country and nobody cared. This wasn't the hostility of previous wars. It was just a general apathy. "Respect" was nothing more than a buzzword repeated by fat cat politicians. And all that "respect" didn't help when he was applying for numerous jobs and being turned down for every one. And worse, the country he left was worse than ever; riots, crime, filth. And so Seb became the Forgotten Soldier, dedicated to fighting crime with bullets. The small fish are of little interest to him, although he has no issue putting them down if they cross his path. But what Seb is interested in is the ones too big to fail. The mob bosses, the crooked poltiicians, the foreign subversives. And he is utterly brutal when he takes them out. He sees no point in watching a mob boss walk free on a technicality. He does try to avoid entaglements with law enforcement (although is still willing to kill if they corner him) and does attempt to keep innocents out of it. Innocents generally means women and children, although he's not enough of a fool to leave a woman supervillain uncountered. He still keeps an eye out for military veterans, making donations to veteran charities anonymously. These donations are frequently large enough that the charities in question choose not to dig into where the money originates, which is generally criminal property 'confiscated'. He's even been know to step into veteran's issues in person, if the situation warrants it

Well with the current kerfluffel there's sudden interest in our group with my DtD rewrite. So this is a character stub for one of them.

System :: Dungeons the Dragoning 40k 7e
Version :: Telok's

He wants maximun dragoning, so that's a dragonblood dragonborn with extra claw and breath weapon goodness. Plus the option to dip priest or druid for transmutation magic because 'moar clawz' is 2nd level magic, enlarge self is 3rd, and turning full dragon is 5th. Then for some reason he wants a "space dragon" theme, which we can totally do with a bit of background magic item stuff. This is a spread out abilities version, though I think we'll end up piling up some of the skills for bigger numbers in smaller buckets. Tho considering the other people here this may be the only character who can stop blood loss, treat critical wounds, and fly a shuttle.

Hearthstone Bracers are another fairly common magical item, each set containing a slot for a single hearthstone and proving their wearer significant defensive bonuses, giving +2 Armor Points that stack with other armor sources.

Spacer's Voidstone (Artifact 3) This hearthstone seems to absorb all electromagnetic radiation without noticeable effect, placing it beyond the realm of color. It is as dark as infinite distance and prized beyond measure by space travelers. The possessor of a Voidstone does not need a voidsuit to survive the rigors of vacuum and is safe from micrometeorites and the hard radiation of space. It adds one dot to it's owners skills for the purposes of flying, navigating, repairing, and operating spelljammers and spacecraft. Finally it protects against harm during unprotected atmospheric reentry, although it has no effect on the sudden stop at the end.

----------- OPTIONS ----------
hindrances:
* All Thumbs: You don't like machines and they don't like you much either. The Tech-Use and Craft skills cost twice the normal experience points to learn or improve. All rolls made to use or repair machinery, computers, and electronics are made at -1k0.
* Intolerance: There's some sods you can't stand. Your character does not get along with certain kinds of people (Orks, sorcerers, politicians, and so on) and wants nothing to do with them. Check the Peer feat (p.126) for some groups. You get a +1k0 to taunt and insult them, and a -2k0 to all other social rolls with that group.
* Law o' the Stars: A true gentleman of the Great Wheel won't draw down on an enemy until the foe draws first. Most honorable people end up being quickly put into honorable graves. Your hero must live by a code of honor that not everyone else subscribes to. Check the Alignment & Honor Appendix for sample codes. Roll an Alignment test (p.192) every time that you violate your code.
* Big Britches: It's good to be confident, but only a fool leads 600 Guardsmen into a horde of 5,000 Orks. You're severely overconfident. You believe you can do anything and it takes a TN 20 Wisdom check to back down from a fight, refuse a dare, or not take a bet. You take a -1k0 penalty to social combat rolls using Wisdom (p.265).

* Fast: There comes a time in every Hero's life when it's time to hightail it away from something that's more trouble than he expected. If that's the case, you only need to be able to outrun the slowest person. When you take a Full Action to sprint you multiply your base speed by x7 instead of by x6. You also gain a +2m bonus to your Speed as long as you're only wearing light or no armor.
* Sand: You're the kind of tough bastard that will keep going no matter what. You can take two extra levels of Fatigue before passing out.
* Sturdy: You are just one tough customer. You might just be big and burly, or you might have skin of steel, or you might just like second helpings at the buffet; any way you slice it, you're tough to slice. Your Resilience is increased by 1.
* Inheritance 2: Good bionic legs -- +2 armor on your legs, +2 speed, Critical Damage dealt to these locations function as normal. However, any result that causes Bleeding or some other inappropriate result renders the bionic limb useless. Critical damage to a limb that results in death has the full effect as it can be assumed that the limb explodes into shrapnel or something.

OR

Unarmed Warrior: +1k0 unarmed damage, Cat-fall: halve falling distance & land on your feet, Fleet of Foot: on full move add +dex distance & on running double distance but using this twice in a row inflicts fatigue on you, Pure Faith (+2 on alignment checks) or Discipline (+1 resolve), exit Brother (+1 armor from wholeness of body) & enter Disciple after raising athletics & acrobatics to 2s

Day 23

System: Mercenaries, Spies, & Private Eyes
Version: 2019 Edition
Publisher: Flying Buffalo Inc.

System Notes: MSPE uses a system heavily based on Tunnels & Trolls, but much more skill-based and without classes. Attributes are generated randomly, and since this character doesn't have a great Intelligence, he was limited for the number and type of skills he could take, so I made him a basic mercenary. At least his high Dexterity will make him a pretty good shot, and the Missile Adds penalty is trivial given the amount of damage guns do in this system.

Name: Carl Roberts
Level: 1

Strength 12
Luck 8
Intelligence 8
Dexterity 17
Constitution 15
Charisma 9
Speed 10

Melee Combat Adds: +4
Missile Combat Adds: -1

Skills:
Assault Rifle 1
Clip Pistol 1
Knife Fighting 1
Occupation: Soldier 2
Pugilism 1
Shotgun 1

Physical Description: Average height, but tough and wiry. Moves gracefully and efficiently.
Personality: Slightly slow and awkward, but otherwise unremarkable.

Gear: Ithaca 37 Shotgun with 40 Rounds, Beretta M92S Pistol with 60 Rounds (4 Magazines), Hunting Knife, MK2 Flak Vest, $105

Backstory: Carl is a simple man. He joined the Marines right out of high school, having nothing else he particularly wanted to do with his life, and served in the infantry. Afterwards, with no other real skills besides combat, he became a gun-for-hire of sorts, moving between bodyguard work, security, and private military contractors as jobs came up. He has excellent reflexes and is fairly hardy as well, but is much more of an operator than a planner, and needs strong direction in order for him to be the most effective at his duties.

Perks

Rich. The Adept comes from a particularly rich background – before the tearing of the Veil, they held a position that generated wealth, or perhaps they inherited it. They Exile has money to spare and can generally purchase what they want, even for other Cabal members.

Gear

A high end computer.

A small collection of parapsychology books.

Background: Elodie is rational and intelligent. Intelligent enough that she owns her own medium sized business, built up from nothing. Rational enough that she slightly despises the fact she's psychic. But there becomes a point where denial is the stupid option and she reached it years ago. Pleasant but detached, she fits few's people mental picture of an adept. This works to her advantage.

I'm a little behind, and Mythras was taking a bit longer to read than I hoped (some sections are kinda long, plus being doing other stuff as well), so I'm going with Savage Worlds again, basing this one off my most recent Fallout 4 character...

Background:
Sarah Williams is a woman outside her time. She woke up from being cryogenically frozen in a vault to find her husband dead and her infant son stolen by a scar faced mercenary. Everyone else in the vault was dead as well, and she seemed to be the lone survivor. She exited the vault to find a changed landscape 200 years into the future. The world devastated by nuclear war and turned into a radioactive wasteland. Giant insects roam the land, and ruthless raiders prey on the weak and defenseless.

Early in her travels she met up a small group of survivors looking for a new home, led by a Preston Garvey of the Minutemen. Sarah agreed to join his cause to help restore the Minutemen and defend the people of the Commonwealth. Now she travels the wastelands of the Commonwealth in search for her kidnap son, while helping people along the way, and providing assistance to any settlements that join her cause.

That’s odd. I heard the font size was really easy on the eyes.

;)

Font is fine, but kinda wordy sometimes, and LOTS of info about the different types of magic, which is what I usually like to make. I'll probably end up creating multiple characters to try out different character types, magic (once I make up my mind about which type of magic to pick) and non-magic.

I recommend theism. Sorcery is cool, and my favorite, but it’s also the one that requires the most scoping by the GM.

Name: Joseph Westmore
Mode: Pulp
Drive: Revenge
Occupation: Military Army
Hit Threshold: 3
Investigative Build Points: 0/18
General Build Points: 0/69
Experience: 0/0

Background
Joseph Westmore, youngest son of the Westmore estate, is an idealistic and naive young man. So this was how, even against the urging of his father, he found himself in Europe fighting a war that he should never have been in. His older brother came over also, always making sure to be in his unit- seemingly there more to protect him rather than fight the war. He slipped his brother's protective eye to go scouting with his superior officer. While scouting enemy positions, his superior catches a bullet, and he has to get the scouting reports back to the unit. Lost as he tried to navigate his way back, his brother found him just as they stumbled over some archaic ritual the Germans were performing. He remembers very little of what he saw other than a great shadow and beating wings. His brother tried to protect him, and then was gone in a great splash of blood and screaming- the mixture of his own and the Germans, for his brother died a blessedly brief death. He didn't die alone- followed close behind by the Germans- Joseph himself ran and made it back to the lines. But his nightmare was only beginning. His demeanor changed, and in a haze he'd go out to try to make sense of what he'd seen- to find some enemy that could explain it to him in their entrails. He was shipped out as unfit, but took many years to make it back home- seemingly somewhat recovered, but no longer the idealist. Finding out his beloved mother died while he tried to get himself together weighs on him. He still tries to make out what happened, chasing down leads of the same sort of activity, but he hides the horrific things he's seen from others, knowing that it makes him seem insane- and in truth, he's not sure that he isn't...

Pillars of Sanity

Faith that His Brother's death and everything he experienced had a reason
As the last living heir, the Honor of the Westmore name.

Name: The Rocket
Secret ID: Miles Douglas

Strength: 1 (Below Normal Human, Lift 100 lbs)
Dexterity: 2 (Normal Human)
Race: Human
Intelligence: "B" Normal Human
Appearance: Human in all respects
Ability: Flight
Skills: Miner, Engineer - Aeronautical

(Supervillains is an early proto RPG by Task Force Games. It can be played as a straight boardgame but would also work for a very very simple RPG. But it's a tour de force of random. See the above character. Miles is apparently a coal miner who decided to get out of his small town by becoming an aeronautical engineer. He is physically puny and mentally average. His superpower is Flight which provides him no combat or defensive abilities. I sure hope he finds a team to work with because he's a corpse on his own.)

I recommend theism. Sorcery is cool, and my favorite, but it’s also the one that requires the most scoping by the GM.

I was actually looking at Animism, cuz I like the idea of shamans and they seem to have done a really interesting system for handling spirits (not sure how useful it is in actual game play, though). But, holy crap! There's a lot of stuff to read. They went all in with the different types of spirits and such.

Sorcery seems nice too (that's the type of magic user I usually play). Theism conceptually tends to be the least interesting to me, and I haven't read it yet (and mostly skimmed through the rest). But will eventually check it out regardless. I'm doing this mostly for the Character Creation challenge, so don't know how deep I need to go into it to just make a character. I might just roll a character and see where it takes me (try a non-caster fist) then continue reading as I go along.

Fail, join Vagabonds. Well, if it's not pirates, he's just going to wander around and look for something, he doesn't even know what...
Get all service skills for free at level-0 and get two rolls.
Rolling both on the Service table. Melee both times. He had to fight quite a bit, but luckily, he met a martial arts master on the way and got very valuable instruction!
Survived the first term, got promoted from Vagabond to Rambler.
Rolled a strength increase. Str-12! He's still growing, after all...
Failed the re-enlistment roll. Got 20 gold and an ally (Yin-Yin, whom he's in love with) out of it.

And with this, Marcel is ready to rumble! (And it's not like he's much good and many other things, but what he's good at, he's real good:shade:)!

myself and others have talked a lot about Animism. It is a fan favorite for sure. I also find theism the least interesting, but it is also the easiest to wrangle.

System :: Convergence Point
Version :: 1.9

Day 24) Norma Jean 0437 Ozco

All this set of characters are based on the "anime" of The Neo Frontiers. The full anime series Neo Frontiers is not supposed to focus on any particular character but follows several characters throughout the course of the series. Although each one gets to be a star in one episode some just continue to follow their life. They are all interlinked around the high school "stage" characters. They will be at the level of when they first appear in the "anime".

Name: Norma Jean 0437 Ozco
Core Trait: Bio-Meken Performer of the Neo Frontier's Era

Norma Jean is one of "the stars" where Christa works: The Blue Stage. It is a retro-music themed restaurant. The Servers are all Bio-Meken of famous singers of an earlier time. Upon occasion, a server will "do a set" on the stage; then go back to serving. The food is above average, but the atmosphere and entertainment is what you are there for.

She is from the Ozco Entertainer Company, using it as her last name for convention's sake. She is currently owned by the Blue Stage Company, which has a number of Bio-Meken at a number of restaurants.

Bio-Meken are synths that combine the advantages of bio-synths and meken-synths. They are mostly organic, grown into an intense neurowire anchor system that runs through their brain and entire nervous system. (and sometimes other systems, it depends on the company). The Bio-Meken is decanted and given a data chip to teach it "the basics". This process is related to the previous technological generation for teaching bio-synths. They have the advantage of programmability and control of a Meken, but the lesser initial costs and functionality of a bio-synth. Also given the eventual (if not pending) legal changes for "path to citizenship" for bio-synths, including worker clones, they are an attractive business asset.

Norma Jean syndrome - Since it is appropriate.
Just because you can do the genetics of a famous person, does not mean they come out and act like that person. No, they have a lot of the same characteristics and the same range, but the artistic performances (as well as general personality, body language, and skills) aren't quite there .

So when you clone Marilyn Monroe, you don't get a Marilyn Monroe. You get Norma Jean Baker. And even if you give her some of the historical backgrounds and things, she is not quite there. The Marilyn Monroe super charisma seems to be something of a skill that Norma Jean learned. And even if you give her the skill without a brain scan there's no way to just to turn it on.

This is why Bio-meken are frequently used for musical or artistic reenactors impersonators over bio-synth clones. These products can be programmed with the sound and the visual portions of the action for what they do. So why you can have an Elvis clone, you don't get that Elvis sound until they learn it and then they are second string or you have a biomech programmed with it to do it immediately.

Wilhelmina showed great intelligence and fiery red hair from an early age, and thus was groomed from the very beginning to join the Bright Wizards. She has never shown anything but promise in this regard, and would be hard to convince that she is on a path towards destruction.

Background:
Tenguhal was born with fully functional wings. Among his people, who are born with only vestigial wings and have lost the ability of natural flight, this was a remarkable of thing of great wonder. Many would come to worship him as a god among his people. Others deeply resented him and hated him for it. Tenguhal for his part merely wanted to be free. But freedom was the one thing no one would let him have. So, he fled his home kingdom of Vardune, eventually coming to settle and hunt in the Witchlands to the North.

For the most part, he is happy to live and hunt alone. He is free, and that is all he ever wanted to be. Of late, however, he has taken a keen interest in a certain Aamanian. Watching from hiding, well out of sight, he observes as this follower of Aa, different from the others, hunts his own. He doesn't know if this Aamanian is friend or foe, but he knows for certain that he bears watching.

and gifted mage, he is also a stickler for propriety in the Mage Order.

sometimes his companions think he's a bit pedantic and fastidious.
He is courageous and generous in his own way though, and a quite useful
member of the party.

Version: 2004 Edition

System Notes: There's a newer version of this available, but I had this in my DTRPG library and figured I'd check it out (probably got it in a bundle at one point). It's a fairly simple and fast chargen system.

Name: Jasmine Jacobson, aka "Hi--Fi"

Agility 3
Mind 3

Skills: Performing Arts (Guitar, Singing), Athletics (Acrobatics), Humanities (Art), Deception (Detect Deception), Technology (Repair)

Powers: Super Senses (Hearing, no cost), "Wall of Sound" Force Field (absorb 50 points of damage, soak 10, 3 square wall, range 5, cost 3), "Shockwave" Daze Attack (range 10, cost 4)
Energy: 10

Weaknesses: None
Advanatages: Appeal (+3 on attempts to persuade)
Disadvantages: Secret (nobody knows her real identity, including teammates)
Mental Malfunction: Perfectionist

Backstory: Jasmine Jacobson is an ambitious rock star who is also secretly the sonic superhero known as Hi-Fi. One day, Jacobson was getting ready for a concert when a freak accident (or so she thought at the time) caused her to get electrocuted by her guitar amplifiers. She was seemingly unaffected at the time, but soon after realized she could hear anything she wanted, and could also physically project sonic energy in the form of a force field or a stunning blast that could disorient a target. While she initially thought the incident was just caused by sloppiness (someone didn't read the rider again!), it turns out it was actually an attempt by her corrupt manager to murder her and then cash in on the media attention. This motivated her to become a part-time crimefighter as well, in order to prevent the cruel and powerful from hurting others as she almost was. While she will work with other superheroes on occasion, she never lets them know who she really is, and as a result must always balance her two very different lives.

Her risque strips (which generally involved her 'accidentally' losing her clothes in a series of unlikely mishaps) were considered vital enough to the morale of British troops that she was protected from paper rationiing. This success lead to an animated version in 1950. And for a decade, her show was one of the most popular on late night television. But then came the swinging sixties. And what was once considered erotic looked tame and outdated compared to the comix of the 60s. And so Mandy was forced into requirement. What was an ex force's pinup cartoon to do? In Mandy's case, it was to become a damn good cat burgler. She has no problem using her natural assets to help on a job, but she takes no pride in it either. Those are the creation of her animator. Her ability to make a good clean burglary is entirely of her own making.

Sounds like it’s probably a cool system and an alternative to Toon, it’s sad people want to add “punk” to everything these days.

It's arguably more justified in this case. It has cyberpunk modifications. It's also an odd but fun combo; it's a heist game with full tactical map combat, you just happen to be cartoons.

Yvonne might not look it, but years of hard work on the edge ('the frontier of the Frontier,' she calls it) have given her a wiry tenacity that keeps her going when men twice her size have gassed out. She's learned a thing or two about how to move on when it's time and how to protect herself when she can't move on.

Things went south at her last job. Android went berserk, she'd heard that could happen but never seen it herself. By the time she got the medpack and gun out of the chief's quarters and got to the mess hall it was too late. Thing had taken everyone in there apart, five of her friends, and then capped itself. She still needs enough money to keep her working out here, but after that she's going to be watching, and is going to be ready for anything.

Also, A Fiery Flying Roll A Fiery Flying Roll what does the "smut" subtype mean?

Day 25: BESM

Conspiracy-X reimagined as a Tri-Stat/BESM game using BESM 4e. The character is built at the 'adventurer' power level, on a 50-point build. The idea here was that player characters (if this were a real game) would be relatively grounded if well connected, despite the presence of aliens, wizards and all sorts of crazy, next level shtuff.

Name: Sara Mays
Concept: CDC Investigative Scientist

Background:
Sara was trained for crisis. Her job was to contain and investigate potential mass casualty events in order to prevent them from becoming extinction-level events. There's always some little bug just waiting for the right conditions to wipe out vast swaths of humanity.

What she wasn't prepared for was extraterrestrial contagions. One day the military landed a helicopter in her front yard, escorted her aboard and whisked her away without a word of explanation. She was taken straight away to a small town in the Blue Ridge mountains, a mere few hundred miles from her home. To say that was alarming would be an understatement, but what saw there haunts her to this day. Everywhere they went and everywhere they looked, found what was left of the residents. All of them bleach white and brittle to the touch. So brittle that their hollowed-out bodies would collapse into a pile of dust at the slightest disturbance.

She still sees them when she tries to sleep, and she sees the burning homes and buildings they'd left behind when they finished their work.

That was her first encounter with alien life, and that was when Aegis showed up to offer her a job.

25) Subrata Pal

All this set of characters are based on the "anime" of The Neo Frontiers. The full anime series Neo Frontiers is not supposed to focus on any particular character but follows several characters throughout the course of the series. Although each one gets to be a star in one episode some just continue to follow their life. They are all interlinked around the high school "stage" characters. They will be at the level of when they first appear in the "anime".

Name: Subrata Pal:
Core Trait: Human Student of the Neo Frontiers Era
Hasselhoff Syndrome, Augmen Chassis

Subrata was a bright child, but not unusual. That is until he began to express Hasselhoff Syndrome. He started to show weakened muscles and only a little limb nerve damage. Luckily he did not show any of the immunity deficiencies that many Syndromers showed. His parents decided that a chassis framework would be better for him, rather than a wheelchair. Thus he has had a number of support frameworks since then. While they support frameworks can expand, eventually, you outgrow them (or need to upgrade their supports).

A Chassis (in this context) is an external framework, using technology from bionics and robos. Most are slim frameworks of polyphase carbide that run along the outer edges of the body, with cross joints along the back. There are motor servos and synth muscles at the joints. A user steps or slides in, straps up, and goes from there. The chassis senses the movements of the wearer. They can provide support and strength for the user. Now a support chassis (for Hasselhoff or Low Gee people), will grant enough strength and balance to move about in 1 G. The power cell will keep it running for 50 hours before needing a recharge.

Note: Some of these units will require V/I connections either via plug or via a halo. At this point, Subrata is not using those.

Over the years, Subrata has become internally focused. He excelled at the mental aspects of schools. He is perhaps the best academic athlete Unity High School has ever produced with a focus on science. He has pushed himself physically as well. For a Syndromer he is physically capable, actually able to move about for a while without his framework.

When we see him for the first or second time, Simone makes a comment to Racheal and the J's about "I am surprised you are not bothering him." (gesturing to Subrata). At that point, we discover some development of their characters. Racheal and The Js actually respect him. It is not his fault he has Syndrome. To mostly quote, "He is doing the most with what he has and working hard on getting better. He is an Syndrome athlete, not like those other ones in the wheelchairs."

In the last episode we see him in the background. He is upright and walking. I am assuming that he "finished growing" and could now get bionic limbs. (You can't give them to children who are growing, because they would be outgrown... hence the frameworks).

Note: I don't think I have the name right. If you have a source contact me.

Description: He is a fairly thin boy with dark skin and hair. His eyes were gold. His nose was pronounced. His limbs were literally twig like. He was not twisted or broken, just painfully thin. His chassis was mostly painted white with black operational boxes by limbs or his back.
