Day 26

System: Beyond the Wall and Other Adventures
Version: N/A
Publisher: Flatland Games

System Notes: This is an OSR game heavily inspired by authors such as Lloyd Alexander, Ursula K. LeGuin, and Susan Cooper, where the characters are village friends just starting out in their adventuring lives. Being a big Alexander fan (which shouldn't be a surprise), I figured this game would be of interest to me, and so far I think the authors have got the tone and feel right. It has an option to use playbooks for character generation, which is what I did for this character, in order to generate their stats and abilities (though you can use the tradtional method as well).

Dr. Dominic Parker was biking home from work one evening when he was struck by a drunk driver. Even worse, he was thrown into one of the ditches dotting his semi-rural suburb and landed unconscious in a pool of standing water just deep enough to drown in.

He wasn't going to let death stop him, though. He had a responsibility. His daughter's dog Dino was at home. Lucy couldn't take care of Dino anymore, the leukemia made sure of that. And after Lucy, Madelyn couldn't even look at Dominic any more, and he couldn't blame her; he had put the family through such financial stress to get a medical degree that was in the end absolutely useless. So Dino was alone and if Dominic didn't get up and get moving and make it home then the last remnant of his family was going to slowly starve to death and it would be Dominic's fault again for just lying here.

So Dominic got up. His bike was destroyed, so he walked home. And by the time he reached his door he knew something wrong had happened and he was undead. But Dino still recognized him, still slowly padded over for a pat, so Dominic knew it couldn't be too wrong.

Dominic could't keep working as a GP, of course, way too much interaction for his current condition. He wound up managing the local morgue, which didn't require too much in-person communication and gave him enough income to afford dog food and vet bills. And this work has brought him into contact with some interesting local characters.

Day 27: Fudge

Back to Fudge for a day or two in a desperate bid to make it to this year's finish line.

This is an old fashioned, square-jawed Saturday morning cartoon rockets & ray guns action-hero. The only things he doesn't do well are tell lies and follow orders. He lives in a world where the bad guys are bad and must be stopped, and where the good guys are good and cannot just stand by and do nothing. So, he stops bad guys. It's pretty straightforward.

In real games, I try to put a bit of structure to the character creation method with clearly defined upper limits and limitations. For this challenge, they're entirely freeform. Which is actually kind of fun. I'm a little tempted to run a Fudge game where I give a few rough parameters and tell everyone to just make what they want within those parameters (you're playing rockets & ray guns square-jawed action-heros! Go!).

Version :: 1.9

27) Chloe (237653) Emét

All this set of characters are based on the "anime" of The Neo Frontiers. The full anime series Neo Frontiers is not supposed to focus on any particular character but follows several characters throughout the course of the series. Although each one gets to be a star in one episode some just continue to follow their life. They are all interlinked around the high school "stage" characters. They will be at the level of when they first appear in the "anime".

Name: Chloe (237653) Emét
Core Trait: Synth-Gamma Escort of the Neo Frontiers Era
Cat Girl/ Neko - Kemonomimi

Chloe's last name is Emét as in Emét Genetics and Products as per protocols. She might get a different "family name" depending on the size of the organization that buys her contract. Given her serial number, they make many nekos.

Chloe is a mid to late season addition to Social Training Class/ Human Class that all the synth girls have to attend (and Espers have to attend now and again). The rest of her "litter" or wrangler cadre are still with the worker clones in the tier one class. The girls quickly adopt her and give her friends beyond her "litter".

Unlike the media stereotype of Gammas, she really wants to be an Escort. This confuses Simone and Racheal a little. Her response is simple, "Who wants to be a dishwasher or server their entire life?" She is looking forward to a life of fun, fancy clothes, parties, and occasionally getting out of her lounge. She wants the job she was decanted for. "Sure my whole life is mapped out. It is not a long life, but it should be fun. That is what is important."

At this point, the viewer realizes that there is a "safety limit" on some product constructs. They will only live for like 20 years (or less we can only conjecture). This keeps them from developing too much and prevents the complicated "taking care of the retired construct" problem.

She does make the girls have "fun" and drags them to a party.

Description: Neko have a wide variety of looks. They start their appearance as a human female. They have feline ears, feline eyes, small but pointed canines, and the occasional patch of fur on their shoulders or chest. Some, like Chloe, seem to have a tail. Chloe is colored like a ginger tabby, with her ears,, tail, and hair is a mix of orange (light and dark) and white. Her "hair" is long, full, and wavy. Her eyes are green. Her body is lean, seeming muscular, and has a shape that is much like a lovely teenage female (assumed to get more so). She is of average female height, maybe on the shorter side. (It is hard to tell, every one of the girls except Kaede is "tall".) Her kind does not have claws, but she does manicure her nails to a shaper edge. (Note: We do not know if there are male Neko.) She wears her uniform most of the time, but she has a party dress or two to change into.

From the Entertainment Stage
Escorts
Those who provide social and physical companionship. Most are employed by lounges, bars, clubs, and hotels. They help clients have a good time and relax (and spend a lot of money). They provide conversation and help “the party” keep going. To help with this, they can get you access to special places. However, in most legitimate places they don’t provide “intimate” entertainment. Not normally. However, escorts that are meken synthetic are normally used for such activities. Certain zones allow biological constructs (Bio-Synths), such as Cat Girls or Bunny Girls, to be used for such activities.

System :: Warrior, Rogue & Mage
Version :: Revised Edition

Interesting little light-weight system for you all today. The basic idea
is that classes are attributes, so instead of having STR, DEX, CHA and the
like, you have levels of Warrior, Rogue, and Mage, and your various
skills and abilities derive from those. It's an interesting idea and the
game looks fun. Not a fan of the rule book layout though; the font is
like a nightmare from /r/keming

I love the magic system though.

Jan28_final.png
Coretti is a former mage's apprentice who found himself on the street
after his master died of the plague. With no money, no home, and
few other skills he soon found, by necessity, that he had a talent for
thievery. The few magical talents he'd learned, he used to his advantage
in filching precious objects or making a clean getaway. Now he's slowly
gaining a reputation for implausible heists and impossible getaways,
making him highly sought after by the City Watch, who want to hang him,
and various underworld figures who have need of his skills.

Day 27

System: Sword of Cepheus
Version: N/A
Publisher: Stellagama Games

System Notes: As the name suggests, this is a Cepheus Engine-based sword & sorcery game. Chargen is much like other Traveller/Cepheus games, with a career system, rolls for survival and advancement, and such. This system also includes rules for magic (which this particular character doesn't use) and a trait system which gives characters some additional special abilities.

Name: Nicander Lucius, Disgraced Tribune
Age: 26
Career: Noble 3

Strength 6
Dexterity 7
Endurance 4
Intelligence 8

Skills: Carouse-2, Archery-1, Recon-1, Watercraft-1, Leadership-0, Melee Combat-0, Riding-0, Rulership-0

Benefits: 400 gold coins, Scale Armor, 2 Allies (Maximus Thoronus: City Watch Commander; Luellia Syntar: Praetor)

Backstory: Nicander is a scion of a wealthy family that is important in Imperial politics and commerce. While not at all studious, his charisma and natural empathy made him a sure fit for elected office, and he was voted in as a Tribune at a relatively young age. When he was not fulfilling his governmental duties, he loved to spend time hunting in the forests outside the Imperial capital, or sail along the coastline in a skiff. Eventually, though, Nicander's lack of sophistication in the finer points of Imperial law caught up with him, and he was forced to take the blame for a scandal involving a corrupt Praetor, resulting in his resignation (though on the way out, he was able to blackmail the Praetor for her legal assistance in the future in exchange for his silence). With his family shunning him for the time being, Nicander has decided that now's as good a time as any to become an adventurer, traveling the world as he plots his eventual return to politics.

After one particularly rousing evening of song, he was convinced to journey out with Glistening Drug to challenge the dragon nesting nearby. Somehow the dragon found Leroi foul-tasting, but that let the companions secure victory! Leroi even got a sword out of it! He's a hero now, and is quick to throw himself into danger to protect everyone and anyone around him! Evil watch out!

Stats are 2d8. The descriptions aren't locked in; if a player can justify using, say, Lips instead of, say, Hands or Thighs for a sneak attack because they're carrying the dagger in their mouth as they crawl toward the target, if the Guide says okay then it's okay.

Heart is hit points, starts at 20 for everyone. Heat is the metacurrency; it starts at a d4 at the start of the session and additional Heat points can be earned for flamboyant sexy descriptions of actions.

Special abilities can be chosen or rolled (d20). I rolled. The two results ended up going together very well thematically!

The lifepaths are a d4 and then a d6 depending on the d4 result. Each final result gives one skill and a bonus to a stat.

The system is d20 vs Stat + gear + skill (+1 for any applicable), roll under to succeed. If the roll is over but within the Window of Error then it's still a success but with complications.

Day 28: Fudge

Name: Evelynn Irwin

If Ayden is the brawns, Evelynn is the brains. She's sassy, smart and she just so happens to be Ayden's wife. The smart villians know she's the one they should be really afraid of.

Day 28

System: Stars Without Number
Version: Revised Free Edition
Publisher: Sine Nomine Publishing

System Notes: Since I did Worlds Without Number two weeks ago, this is basically the SF version of that, as the two systems are fairly similar. Random chargen for attributes and HP, but I picked the background this time.

Name: Julia Chopra
Class: Expert
Level: 1
Background: Scholar

Strength 8
Dexterity 9
Constitution 11
Intelligence 16 (+1 bonus)
Wisdom 15 (+1 bonus)

Skills: Administer-0, Connect-0, Know-0, Shoot-0, Stab-0, Survive-0

Class Abilities:
-- Can reroll a failed skill role once per scene
-- Free level in a non-combat focus appropriate to background at first level
-- Bonus skill point when advancing in level for any non-combat, non-psychic skill

Foci:
-- Wanderer 1: gain Survive as a bonus skill; can convey basic ideas in all languages of the sector; can always find free transport to a destination (if available) for self and a small group of companions
-- Gunslinger 1: gain Shoot as a bonus skill; can draw or holster a Stowed Weapon as an On Turn action; can add Shoot skill level to weapon damage roll

Armor: Secure Clothing
Weapons: Rifle, Stun Baton
Equipment: 40 Rifle Rounds, Backpack (Tech Level 4), Survival Kit, Binoculars (Tech Level 4), 3 Type A Power Cells, 5 Days of Rations, 250 Credits

Backstory: Julia is an academic, but the kind that likes to go out in the field and get her hands dirty rather than sitting at a computer or a lab bench. She travels the sector performing her research, with her specialty being the location and recovery of ancient artifacts. Since she often has to travel to remote, inhospitable, and dangerous locations, she is adept at wilderness survival and defending herself when combat can't be avoided. Being well-traveled has also given her at least basic knowledge of most languages, as well as the ability to convince pilots and ship captains to give her passage (even if it's working passage or not fully on the level). While research is her passion, it can be expensive and grants hard to get, so she's not above taking the occasional side gig with a group of adventurers to provide...supplemental funding for her projects.

Beauting in all Things
Magic Sword
Indigestible

Lifepath:
Simple beginnings - a work of art x2
Mythical mainsprings - heroic folk, hunting monsters

Starting Coin: 4

Leroi has always had the soul of an artist! Maybe his paintings weren't so great, but they had spirit and passion! And his singing at the Quickest Goat Pub always led to a round of drinks!

System :: Convergence Point
Version :: 1.9

28) Dr. Gann Windmore

All this set of characters are based on the "anime" of The Neo Frontiers. The full anime series Neo Frontiers is not supposed to focus on any particular character but follows several characters throughout the course of the series. Although each one gets to be a star in one episode, some just continue to follow their life. They are all interlinked around the high school "stage" characters. They will be at the level of when they first appear in the "anime".

Name: Dr. Gann Windmore
Core Trait: Esper (Mad) Scientist of the Neo Frontier Era
Esper Alpha.

In Series 1, he is the "mild mannered" junior associate to Dr. Williamson. We see the future when Mr "background character" has a rant about "how the UZ is limiting "real science" after Mr. Black pays the good doctor a visit with "concerns". Everyone, including Williamson, looks shocked about this. "Maybe you should take the rest of the day off. You seem stressed," is Williamson's reaction. For all we know, he never came back to work and launched on his "unique career path FOR SCIENCE!".

In Series 2, he is going to keep The Squadron and the OGA busy. More on that later.

Note: He is the only named esper in Series 1 who is not active, nor of notable power level. We can assume that most Esper are like him, with Basic Abilities only and no real skill at using them. Note: He is mostly a series 2 character (and an antagonist at that). He does not use Esper abilities to any degree in Series 2, but it seems like he uses the natural V/I and TDE abilities.

Write Up Convergence Point

He will have more flaws in Series 2

(Source)

Occupation: Knight
Fame: 800

Brawn: 3
Presence: 4

Skills: Arms 3; Riding 2; Archery 1; Battle 1; Courtesie 1; Jousting 1

Prince Caeril is a young knight new to the court of King Arthur. Although he prefers a comradely solution to violent conflict, he is skilled at the sword and is quick to defent those in need.

(Quick one today! )

Missed a few days for having company (they fly 4000 miles and you're polite even if they are some of your favorites), so let's see if I can catch up.

System :: Champions
Version :: 3rd
Time :: 10:19 to 10:51 - time challenge, using the 'UNTIL superpowers database' splat to totally speed things along, not bad for my second charater in... a decade?

350 points, 200 base + 150 from disadvantages
lets see, we need defense, offense, movement, and something fun...
air and wind? Wind control sounds fun - copy pasta:
WIND CONTROL
Effect: Telekinesis (30 STR)
Target/Area Affected: One character
Duration: Constant
Range: 225”
END Cost: 4
Description: The character exerts control over
winds and air, using them to pick up and move
objects without having to touch them.
Game Information: Telekinesis (30 STR). Total
cost: 45 points.

Ok, earth and stone, let's go with an elemental themed character
BODY OF EARTH/MUD
Effect: Physical Damage Reduction, Resistant, 50% plus Energy Damage Reduction, Resistant, 25%
Target/Area Affected: Self, Duration: Persistent, Range: Self
END Cost: 0
Description: The character’s body is made of earth or mud, making it difficult to harm.
Game Information: Physical Damage Reduction, Resistant, 50% plus Energy Damage Reduction, Resistant, 25%. The character doesn’t have a body that’s permanently made of earth or mud, but can transform himself into an earth/mud shape. Add Nonpersistent (-1⁄4) to both forms of Damage Reduction. Total cost: 36 points.

Fire and heat powers next...
FIERY FLIGHT
Effect: Flight 20”
Target/Area Affected: Self, Duration: Constant, Range: Self
END Cost: 4
Description: Virtually all characters with Fire powers have Flight, whether it derives from fiery wings, projecting flame behind the character to propel him like a rocket, creating thermals that lift and move the character, or some other method.
Game Information: Flight 15”. Total cost: 30 points.

All that's left is water powers
AQUATIC ADAPTATIONS
Effect: Various forms of Life Support and Environmental Movement
Target/Area Affected: Self, Duration: Persistent, Range: Self
END Cost: 0
Description: The character’s body is adapted for spending lots of time underwater. He may be able to breathe underwater, or to withstand the chill and crushing pressure of the deep ocean, or both. He may also be so at home in the water that he suffers no combat penalties there. Th e character can buy as many of these powers as he wishes.
Game Information: Cost 3 Power Aquatic Movement: Environmental Movement (no penalties in water)
Cost 5 Power Breathe Underwater: Life Support (Expanded Breathing: breathe underwater)
Cost 3 Power Underwater Comfort: Life Support (Safe Environments: High Pressure, Intense Cold)

...and...

STEAM FORM
Effect: Desolidification
Target/Area Affected: Self, Duration: Constant, Range: Self
END Cost: 4
Description: The character can transform his body into a cloud of steam.
Game Information: Desolidification (affected by air, water attacks) (40 Active Points); Cannot Pass Through Solid Objects (-1⁄2). Total cost: 27 points.

So that's 45+36+30+11+27= 139... hey, we can skip the disadvantages if we go with lower stats. Let's try that. Say it's a kid just out of high school, so no higher education, job experience, wealth, or what not. 61 points... +2 speed for 20 points and +10 con and +10 body for the next 40 points and... eh, what the heck +2 endurance for that last point.

Str 10 (punch 2d6 dmg, lift 100kg, jump 2"), dex 10 (ocv/dcv 3/3 ), con 20, body 20, int 10, ego 10 (ecv 3), pre 10, com 10, PD 2 (& -50% in rock form), ED 4 (& -25% in rock form), speed 4 (phases 3/6/9/12), recovery 6, END 42, stun 35

Everyman skills: Familiarity (8- roll) with Climbing, Concealment, Conversation, Deduction, Paramedic, Shadowing, Stealth, and Transportation: Automobile

Considering point totals and all it could be wise to pick a couple disadvantages like a hunted (bad guys trying to recruit) and DNPC (family) to pick up more defense, maybe some more dex for offense and defense hitting or some actual skills depending on the type of game you expect.

Bob's just an orphaned high school kid on the street when suddenly POWAZ!

next character... let's push that DtD40k7e I worked on for whasshisface up... 500xp for the first session then 200 each after assuming no hindrances & stunts for more xp... lets just see how much to get to maximum dragoning.

transmutation 10k4 = 95% 20+, 85% 25+, 40% 30+, 8% 35+ with 0.0014% chance of warpy crap if you drop 10s
10k4 = 85% 30+ & ~6% warps, 60% 35+ & 39% warps if keeping 10s
5k4 fettered (no warps) = 95% 15+, 85% 20+, 60% 25+, 35% 30+, 20% 35+

spells: (all of these are half actions, so you can cast and do something else every turn)
1: blood wind - TN 15, VSM, self, for one scene unarmed attacks have 25m of range
2: magic fang - TN 20, S, touch, for one scene touched thing's unarmed attacks do +0k1 damage & are magical
3: enlarge/shrink - TN 25, VS, touch, save arcana+con or size vs the cast or for one scene change size by 2 points (about 1 meter height) plus another 2 points per +10 casting roll over the target number & max size affected = 10 & max change of size = 10 (2 size = +/- 4 defense & 1 resilience)
4: primal power - TN 30, VSM, touch, for one scene get +1 to str & dex & con
5: dragon form - TN 35, VS+Focus, self, for one scene (cancel at will as a free action) turn into a dragon, unusable armor & equipment melds in and becomes unavailable & inactive, +4 size, +3 str, +2 con, +1 cha, -1 dex, -2 fellowship, 8 armor (scales), base x2 flying speed, con save vs stuns, 2k2 claws, breath weapon as a best quality flamer (+10 to the dodge save TN). Important to note that you retain all applicable feats & assets when transformed. Thus the claw attack for this guy will be 10k5 @ 9k5 explosive & magical, penetration 6, brawling(+fatigue on wounding)

So that's what, 5+9+10+11+5+12= 5200 xp or 47/2+1=25 game sessions to maximum dragoning (although you do want a bit more wisdom and the druid's oath to mitigate the casting). Hm, faster might be just jumping straight to druid classes after that first level of monk. Won't have the melee badassery (and we didn't even take a sword school or some of the optional extra more melee badassery feats) but would only be 2500+500+1200=4200 xp or about 20 game sessions. Not bad. There's ways to cheese to spell casting at transmutation 5 faster, but they don't involve being double dragony with extra dragon on top.

Screw it, let's check the full cheese speed run to the dragon form spell.

Character :: Otis LaForce, semi-generic non-optimized ocean adventure gnome druid with a giant otter animal companion and the little lightning blast reserve feat.
LaForce.jpg
Otis LaForce has been quite content lately. He slept without a proper bed recently. He took pleasure in slaughter recently. He has been tired of drinking the same old booze lately.
He is the son of Stukos LaForce and Dumed Hopefulcrafts. He is a faithful worshipper of Chelmaka, a worshiper of Otallihn and a casual worshiper of Morr.
He is a member of the Daggers of Honor, a commune devoted to magic and naturalism located in Altschlos. He arrived at ________ on the 3rd of August.
He is fifty-four years old, born on the 22nd of February in the year _______.
He is broad-bodied and fat. His hair is clean shaven. He has a clear voice. His lips are thick. His noses is slightly hooked. His ears are somewhat narrow. His eyes are bronze and slightly close-set.
Otis LaForce likes electrum, rubber tree wood, giant lynx teeth, mountains, traction benches, high boots, ballista arrows, blue peacocks for their enormous fan tails and emperor penguins for their coloration. When possible he likes to consume fisher berry wine and goats milk cheese. He absolutely detests lizards.
He as an amazing memory, a great deal of patience and willpower, but he has poor focus.
He is quick to anger and to forgive. He can handle stress. He enjoys the company of others. He isn't given to flights of fancy. He appreciates art and natural beauty. He finds rules confining. He is self-disciplined. He takes time when making decisions. He needs alcohol to get through the working day.
A short, sturdy creature fond of drink and otters.

Bloody frak, just counted and I'm still only at 26 on the 29th... Right. After sleep then three or four more. Let me just check my shelf to see what I have handy that hasn't been used...

Immortal: Invisible War, AD&D 2e Complete Spacerfarer's Handbook, Delta Green, more Traveller stuff, straight CoC, Basic Fantasy, DevilBunnies: The Fluffing, Lancer... Ok, we're good on the systems count.

Melanie was taken almost straight from the fashion podium, interrupting a recently-kickstarted modelling career. And it was kick-started: she had struck a deal with her uncle that he would introduce her to a fashion designer looking for healthier-looking models...if she won the Vovinam tournament.
She has her belated suspicions that the designer - who did indeed hire her, and gave her a place in the show, despite her relative lack of experience (she had only had courses, so far) - might be related to her being set upon...
But either way, she is now looking at a future doing more of the same that she did to start her modelling career! It's no fair!
Well, maybe the Kick would be looking for a hostess? They seem to have a curious uniform there, so it might be fun if she got the chance!

Day 29

System: Atomic Highway
Version: N/A
Publisher: Gallant Knight Games

System Notes: Seems like several of us are in a post-apocalyptic mood lately. This is the first time I've created a character for this system; it was easy to follow the process. The game uses its own system called the V6 Engine (I'm assuming because of six-sided dice; V8 might have sounded cooler, but building it around d8s may have been trickier).

Name: Avery Brannigan, aka “Chromestorm”
Concept: Lone Biker of the Apocalypse
Rearing: ‘Steader
Race: Human
Pursuit: Outrider

Description: Average height and athletic build. Dressed head to toe in leather and often wears a battered motorcycle helmet with a mirrorshade visor. Pale skin due to rarely exposing it to the sun.
Personality: Stoic and reserved, but friendly once you get to know him.
Background: Avery grew up in a remote fortified farming village, and showed an interest in vehicles from a young age. He became a scout and messenger to help his community, and has traveled across the abandoned highways that connect the far-flung surviving communities of the wasteland. He has acquired the nickname “Chromestorm” due to the mirrored visor on his helmet and his souped-up motorcycle on which he speeds across the countryside.

Attributes: Muscle 2, Understanding 2, Tenacity 3, Appeal 2, Nimbleness 3, Toughness 3,Senses 3

Health 16

Skills: Athletics 2, Brawl 1, Drive 4, Heal 1, Lore 1, Melee 3, Notice 3, Persuade 1, Shoot 3, Stealth 2, Survive 2, Tech 2

Armor: Light (Motorcyle Leathers, Leather Gloves, Leather Boots, Helmet)
Weapons: Knife, Heavy Semi-Auto Handgun
Equipment: 10 Heavy Handgun Rounds, Binoculars, Mechanic’s Tools, Air Ratchet, Mini Compressor
Transport: Dual-Sport Bike (Muscle 2, Nimbleness 4, Toughness 2, Speed 3, Passengers: Driver +1, Health 30, Customization: Off-road Capable, Solid Tires, Increased Speed, Increased Muscle, Increased Toughness, Flaws: No Cover)

Skills: Computers Advanced
Roleplaying Basic

Bio:
Dora plays the resident librarian lady in the same group as JF, and is an amateur Muay Thai enthusiast. Alas, she got the unpleasant surprise of also being kidnapped with JF!
Well...it might have been worse, right? Sure, they got kidnapped and would have to fight in a tournament that no Earth regulatory body has approved, with unclear chances for return...
But given what some regulatory bodies on Earth would approve of, that's not really such an oversight. She is sure they'd approve this tournament in Texas or somewhere else in the Wild West... (she's not 100% sure what she read on Internet, might have been Nevada instead).
And they could have separated them, right? And they even say they would get paid.
And, most important in her book, there shall be no abuse that they can't defend themselves against. The host of the tournament promised them as much!

System :: Convergence Point
Version :: 1.9

29) The Source aka Walter the Wackadoodle

All this set of characters are based on the "anime" of The Neo Frontiers. The full anime series Neo Frontiers is not supposed to focus on any particular character but follows several characters throughout the course of the series. Although each one gets to be a star in one episode some just continue to follow their life. They are all interlinked around the high school "stage" characters. They will be at the level of when they first appear in the "anime".

Name: Walter aka The Source aka Walter the Wackadoodle
Core Trait: Human Conspiracy Expert of the Neo Frontiers

This is actually a hard archetype to choose. He could be an Alt-Scholar or Scholar of Hidden Knowledge. But this worked.

Walter is a man who seems to live in a basement. We could assume it is his parent's house, but he could be renting it. He might not be living there, it could just be "his office" so he can't be traced. His basement is full of news clippings on the wall, filling cabinets, and bookshelves. And Yarn. Lots of red yarn connecting things. (Also there was a knitting project on the arm of his easy chair.)

In this one short bit, we see Walter as an obsessive crazy person. He talks about things that nobody knows about. Yet, he is right. He knows about The Extradimensional Aliens (who would be in the OVA), The Secret War in the 1960s (Earth vs Aliens), The OGA vs Aliens and The Supernaturals (Series 2), Transdimensional Aliens and realms (Series 2 and The Warp Storms). He rattles this all off in a rapid fire couple minute monologue, with The Mango and Junior just standing there and being stunned. Then he stops and seemingly calmly reaches for a paper folder on the information about The OGA they wanted. They thank him and scoot out... handing the info to Kaede who was told not to come in because she was an Esper. (We are left unsure if Walter was worried about his mind being read or they were concerned for her being exposed to a crazy mind.)

I am still amazed he did not mention the shooting of JFK or that aliens did it.

In a storytelling mode, this scene has a lot to unpack. We know the OVA would of been plotted at this point, if not in production. So the first elements about the OGA would be a link to the OVA (plus the bar scene that introduced Hornet and Kato). From the view of series 1, the later half of his rant seems to be insane. Yet when viewed from series 2, it comes to light that Walter is the most knowledgeable person in the world. Since series 2 is supposed to be an abrupt and radical departure from series 1 (the core writer, the director, and the very focus of the series), it makes one wonder when why this scene was written and included in Series 1. No one at this point should of known what Series 2 would be (or that core personnel are leaving). Maybe the original storyline for series 2 was going to have A supernatural plot thread while fitting into the framework of series 1. Series 2 became all weird, all the time, with supernatural events, kaiju, squadron, and the gate plotline. Did they just take this scene and expand it into series 2? There are a lot of questions and not a lot of information about this. Fan conjecture is divided too. So we are left with The Mystery that is The Neo Frontiers.

To be honest, I would not have rated him as a favorite character (PC or NPC). However, once I wrote him up, I found I really liked him. I would love to run him as a PC or NPC.

System :: DeadEarth
Version :: 2nd Edition

Some of you may have heard of this system. It's silly, grimderp
post-apocalyptic nonsense in which your character can- and probably will-
die during chargen. It's been described as having no redeeming features
whatsoever. I disagree with that- some of the artwork in the rulebook
is oddly endearing in an amateurish way. But yeah, the game itself is
horrible.

I am delighted to report that my radiation mutant did indeed perish
during character generation.

Code:
Name: Neville Byers

Moves: 9
Resiliency: 4
Strength: 0
Age: 19
Skill Points: 210
Radiations: 5
Height: 6'3"
Weight: 200lbs (I don't know, the weight generation literally makes no sense)
Maximum Carrying weight: 30 lbs
Money: $1,000

Radiations:
703- Uneventful Life: Nothing worth talking about in your existence.
          Subtract 2D6 from the trotroubadourill.
(WHAT THE FUCK DOES THAT MEAN?)
608- Mutiny: (long winded description of a micromanager)
808- Blood Bank: I cannot die of blood loss
     826- I am DEAD. Great.

...so, presumably, you didn't die of bloodloss - but how did you die, then:grin:?

Character 30
Game: Altais; Age of Ruin

Name: Tazim Sibari
Homeland: Kingdom of Glass
Background: Javana Yen - Dancing Scimitars

Strength: 3
Agility:4
Mind: 1
Charisma: 1
Focus: 2

Skills

Athletics 2, Brawl 2, Intimidation 2, Melee 2, Streetwise 1

Talents

Dual Wield 2, Evasion 1, Fearsome Coutenance 1

Languages

Starting Equipment:

Scimitar (x2),
Traveller’s Kit, 30 crs.

Languages
Aroji, Varin, Javana Sign Language.

Advantage

The special techniques taught to you by the Javana Yen have made you particularly adept at fighting with two scimitars. While using these weapons your penalty for dual wielding is reduced by 1, your Initiative is increased by +1, and you may choose to share the Defence bonus you receive from Dual Wield with one ally within 3 metres/yards.

Background

Like most Dancing Scimitars, Tazim has been serving as a mercenary in the army of the Kingdom of Glass. It's a good life, but he has got bored of the lack of real battle and hence a lack of glory and coin. He has gone out into the wider world in search of fortune. While he fights primarily for the highest bidder he has his own code of honour, always seeing a contract through to the end and not killing civilians unless the job demands it.

One of the first characters I made for this challenge years ago was for deadearth. I was looking forward to a trip down humor lane with horror and death as a reward. I got an actual character. Never have I been so annoyed to successfully make an RPG character in my life.
