For Christmas we bought my son this poster set.

OK, with that I'll go off on a tangent.

One of the urban legends surrounding Star Wars when I was growing up was the recurring story of the friend of a friend who had the poster with the title of "all 12" of the Star Wars movies on it. I'm pretty sure this one cropped up in the lead up to Empire, and endured through a few years after Return.

The story was there was a poster released directly after Star Wars completed it's original theatrical run. This poster was nothing but the titles/logos for each of the movies in the Star Wars saga. The friend of a friend had purchased it through mail order from Lucasfilm.

Ironically, there just needs to be one more Star Wars movie for this poster to be actually possible. It would be a really boring poster with just 12 logos on it, but the child inside me really wants to see it become a reality.

---

My absolute favorite Return of the Jedi movie poster is the lightsaber poster: the hands holding up the blue lightsaber triumphantly/defiantly against a backdrop of space. A few years ago I realized it was by the same artist who did the Star Trek: The Motion Picture "rainbow" poster (another favorite), which makes a lot of sense.

All great posters. Drew Struzan is one of my favorite artists.

While I can't stand the actual game, the 7th Sea 2e cover is quite nice:
I like the idea of this cover, but I find the execution a bit drab. The faces seem smudgy, the colors are too muddy for my perception of the genre, and it feels more misty than was probably intended.

I remember Nocturnals. Bought any comic stuff I could find on it, as well as the d20 sourcebook. Something about that artwork really grabs me. Never played the thing, but I liked it. Heck, I may still have it in a box somewhere, I'm really not sure.
If you think that life should be a Warren Comics title or Rob Zombie video, then yes, it's awesome.

I always thought Crime Fighter had nice art on the box lid: two cops getting out of their patrol car at night at the scene of a disturbance, headlights on, weapon drawn, radioing for backup, proceeding with caution.

The art on the back was nowhere near as good.

Still a great game by the renowned Aaron Allston and the underrated Task Force Games.

I was under the impression that Sophisticated Games could publish the game with another company because they were the ones who did the development.

Nepitello has written on his Facebook that he's working on the second edition, which will probably be "edition 1.5"

I'm not sold on that 2e TOR cover. I'm not sure if it's just my aforementioned Hodgson fanboyism, but the new cover looks too generic to me. Gandalf is recognizably Gandalf, of course, but the dwarf, the barbarian girl, and the elf archer all could be from any fantasy setting. And why does the foreground company have their backs to the bridge? Leaving just two warriors to hold the bridge against that horde of orcs isn't very fellowship-like. What're they looking at? Maybe there's more enemy approaching from our vantage point. Are we the baddies?

The girl in the back is about to slit the goblin’s throat it looks like. Maybe she’s watching the rear?

Gandalf looks like Ian McKellan - plus
Sword and board holding the bridge while spear fights in second rank, with archer behind - plus
Bridge being 6ft above a shin-deep river, so Orcs have no need to stay in ranks to fight on bridge - minus
Dwarf chick checking out Gandalf’s ass - wtf

Well there seems to be an (unintentional?) theme of important things being out of sight due to the perspective the scene is painted from and framed. Whatever the front three are heading towards, it's behind the viewer... (I wonder why the hobbit seems to be the vanguard?). And there might be some reason the orcs don't seem to be storming down into the river, but we can't see it, because of the left edge of the picture frame. The archer seems to be shooting at something in that direction.
And...

Oh god, Legolas. Look at his butt.
It's so big. He looks like one of those Valar guys.

She's hooked and she can't stop staring.

Dwarf girls need some booty too.
Maybe there's something reaching up out of the water to grab Gandalf's butt, explaining why they're both looking that way. Or he has a sign pinned to it.

Oh, I just realized it isn't that the figure in the river has a mask on his shoulder... there is an orc down there about to be finished off by small axe.

I sort of like the image overall, but the main thing that threw me was the hobbit with the two-handed shortsword. That's something that doesn't exist in any game I've ever played, AFAIK.

I expect the art will change given the mixed reaction to the move to more generic heroic fantasy art, and Sophisticated Games stance of sticking close to Tolkien's work.
