Inspired by the thread here.
I think the working title is Western Wuxia. Not carved in stone.
A crowd-sourced project like this has two parts: System & Setting. Some people think these should be developed separately. I tend to think they should be developed in tandem. System should support & reinforce the setting and the setting should create an environment that inspires play.
A few ideas for systems were suggested in the other thread: d6 and Year Zero Engine (I would suggest the d6 version - d6s are cheap & ubiquitous). Additional suggestions and discussions desired, please.
As for setting, something akin to the original concept, but more anchored in cinema, like wuxia and other Western & Eastern action movies - The Warriors Way; Sukiyaki Western Django; The Good, the Bad, the Weird; RPGs like Steampunk Musha & High-Plains Samurai. Basic setting married to a scalable system that runs the gamut of gritty Heroics of The Man with No Name trilogy to "high tension, counting bullets, with wuxia stunts." We'll hammer out details, but I'd like to see a system for tables to tailor a broad-strokes setting to their own preferences with an adventure generator.
...And I would love to see this prettied up and offered free to those who want it.
I'm merely a facilitator & instigator.
DISCUSS!
