For shits giggles bread and circuses and because I was inspired by the (not) Bloodbowl player profession in Main Gauche for Zweihander, I want to design a deathsport for a future setting intended as a complete ripoff of 40k.

Imagine a baroque highly regimented industrial aristocratically oppressed superstitious supernatural demon infested mutant polluted setting + Mean Arena (2000ad).

Given this is a character type, it needs to be useful. So I'm thinking something using bikes or mechs - specialist gear they can use out beyond the arena. Dark Eldar jetbikes + Harlem Heroes + Squats + owned by a Corporation that bought toxic landfill off the Lords of the Imperium and converted them into arenas.

Should this be a ballgame? Should this just be a killzone - I think not, that's kinda dull.

I'm calling it Deathstrike for now.

The newly released "Gaslands Refueled" game is an arena battle in the right direction.
As a 40K player, I got a chuckle out of orkifying some matchbox cars and zooming around
with my nephews.
The sponsors giving special rules to a team is worth examining.

There was Urban Brawl in shadowrun. Two teams of combatants and bikers competing in various urban environments. To give it a 40k twist those locations could be a glassed planet, space hulk, xenos location, a fortress world or an Adeptus Mechanicus forge world
Inquisitors vs The Heritics
