was just looking at my car (tesla model 3) and deciding if it was worth it to save myself a bit of headache and get a new charger. it's been stopping charging until I re-plug it back it for some reason.
Anyhow, a little math
Anyhow, a little math
- functionally no maintenance. I think i've replaced wiper fluid
- 43786 miles
- mixed city and highway
- i drive 25 miles round trip to work, which is a mix of city and lower speed (<65) highway
- power is $0.0717/kwh
- gas has averaged $3/gallon since i've owned the car
- i would have spent $3753.09 in gas
- If I charge exclusively at home (the vast majority of the power) it would have been $781.72
- I've charged on the road for a couple hundred dollars worth
- the difference there works out to be about 2 car payments a year.
- new charger is $275, or i can upgrade to a fixed one at home for $500
