One of the newest members of the GI Joe Team, Sgt. King was born in 1962 to hippie parents on the sun-drenched beaches of Southern California. Before he joined the USMC in 1979 as an infantryman, Sgt. King was a surfer and first-class swimmer. After his first deployment out of SOI he was tapped for Force Recon, participating in advisory roles across South and Central America before distinguishing himself as a squad leader in Operation Urgent Fury.

"Every Force Recon Marine can swim like a fish, run like a deer, and stay cool under fire. It's a special kind of cat who's actually more chill when under pressure. He's one of the hardest guys you’d ever meet, but prefers to be gentle. He'd put sentries down but not kill them, because they had families too."

1963 - President Kennedy chooses Lt. Joseph Colton, code name: G.I.Joe, to lead a team of elite soldiers on special missions around the world.

1969 - Joe Colton leaves active duty and forms the Adventure Team, a group of explorers looking for, what else, adventure.

1971 - Future G.I.Joe team members Snake-Eyes and Stalker serve in the same LRRP in Southeast Asia.

1976 - COBRA is formed in Springfield, USA by a former used car salesman who uses a soap-selling pyramid scheme to fund his evil network.

1978 - The Pentagon creates Special Counter-terrorist Group Delta, code name: G.I.Joe. General Lawrence J. Flagg oversees the group. Thirteen soldiers are chosen for the original team.

1982 - G.I.Joe rescues Dr. Adele Burkhart, creator of a “Doomsday” weapon, from the clutches of COBRA. (ARAH #1)

1984 - COBRA partially destroys the Pit and General Flagg is killed by Major Bludd.(ARAH #19)
 
The campaign will be starting after the events of issue #23 and just prior to the events of issue #24. The new recruits will be meeting each other for the first time on a strip at McGuire AFB in New Jersey, which is an hour’s drive from the Pit in Staten Island.
 
The first post is up. So what I usually do for play-by-post games is post in past-tense third person, I use bold for any external dialogue and I use italics for any internal monologue
 
This is going to be pretty chill so don’t worry if you mess up something. We’ll just have a Marvel No-Prize contest to explain any inconsistencies that might arise.
 
I won't constantly poke my nose in here, but I just finished watching season 5 of Venture Bros, the one with the GI Joe satire OSI in all its glory, and wanted to say I envy each and every player in this game. Have fun folks. :thumbsup:
 
So with these types of posts like my last one, I leave it up to the group on how they want to proceed. You can roleplay out the meet and greet with the other Joes or we can do that “off-panel” and you guys can move to the next “page”, so to speak.
 
Just for some more details about the G.I.Joe team. President Kennedy had the idea for a group of elite soldiers doing special missions for the United States. He hand selected Lt. Joseph Colton of the US Army to be the commander of the group and the group was also named after him. Joe would leave active duty in 1969 and go on his own adventures as part of the Adventure Team. He then came back to work for the US government in the 1980s on some special projects. By this point he was General Colton.

Around 1978 the government got the idea to bring the Joes back so they handpicked General Austin to be in change with General Flagg as junior executive officer. They picked Colonel Clayton Abernathy, code named: Hawk, to be field commander. Thirteen Joes were selected to be the original team.

So I’m going to update this tomorrow. What I’m going to do is use the pursuit rules in the Mastermind’s Manual and see what kind of cool scene we can make this.

I thought Swamp Cat was in the hood. I don't know about anyone else, the far right would work for me, IF it was proper MP helmet and swapped guns for an SMG (I'm assuming the bullpups are meant to be...)

I take if we're based on comics we won't be seeing pew-pew lasers?

Sad. Sci Fi is one of my favorites, after Lady Jaye.
I'm just bored and fidgety so I babble. Anyone know someone who could custom up some 'Joe figures/mini's or print them for us? We could pay a little a shipping? Time & Materials of course too, plus a nominal, I did this fee?
 
Just checking status on this one, do we have an ETA on when we'll start again?
