How did you end up here?

Best Selling RPGs - Available Now @ DriveThruRPG.com
Honestly, *shrug*. While some of their posters are massively overstating how much we actually discuss TBP, we do make jokes about them now and again. We can hardly get outraged about them talking about us when we do the same. (I'm pretty sure many of their posters wouldn't agree with the general characterisation of TPB either).
I’m pretty sure they get us mixed up with the ‘Site.
That's really weird. Thread derails in these here parts don't tend to veer into porn territory.

Really fucking WEIRD places, but not porn.

Unless you define fear and angst about water fowl as "porn". Then I guess we ARE degenerates then.
Weirded me out too. Does anyone know which thread this person was mentioning?
I thought this was a pretty accurate quote:

"RPGpub dances along a line. It's like being at a party with jocks, nerds, cheerleaders, band practice, a knitting circle and the drama group. But everyone's doing drugs so it's ok. When the high wears off, it can get a little abrasive, but that's when the mods step up."
That sounds amazing actually. I envy this person’s real life experience which obviously informed this analogy.

There is a simple explanation for your confusion.

Endless Flight is not in fact my alt, despite rumours to the contrary
That misquote was an odd artifact or me rearranging the post order. I was just too lazy to try and fix it.

The map thread. If you didn't immediately get the reference to a rorschach test then the responses from a few of us really did seem out of place.

And some people who I’m frankly surprised that they do. I have mocked, joked, whatever you want to call it, RPGnet for their moderation policies, which have nothing to do with the political views. I have joined a long list of people doing so. But what I have always believed is that it’s better not to cause trouble there and get banned like it’s some badge of honor.

My avatar and title says it all.

The picture is of a battleship firing to both sides. I'm kinda like that.

[political ramblings redacted]

So I could not stay on rpg.net, even tho i miss the few brief reasonable discussions on tangency with gamers outside america before the moddissars shut them down [redacted] On average a new account of mine lasts less than a week there. It makes me feel like i'm in [redacted] that rivals judge dredd's mega city one.

Therpgsite is basically a mix of [redacted]

Rpggeek is ok, nice place generally.

I heard this place was ok too.

I wish we had a game site where world events could be discussed without extremism on either side ruining it.

Welcome to the Pub BMD Antifaman.

We wish that were possible but we don’t allow politics here at all. Just too much shit stirring to have it be a regular occurrence. There have been a very, very few times where we have discussed issues or events that went right up to the line but we don’t let those go very long because eventually what I said at the top happens.

If you want to talk politics on a gaming forum, I think your best bet is either The Gaming Den or the RSP Guild on RPGGeek. The former in particular can be pretty shouty though, just so you're warned.

Thanks.

The gaming den seems to have very little activity on it.

I think that "porn" in that particular (reasonably atypical and I gently tutted at people for it) thread was an amusingly hyperbolic way of talking about people making innuendos about maps, not literal.

That said, "the Pub is not for you if you get annoyed by derailing" is an fact excellent advice.

Exactly that.

I was trying (and apparently completely failing-) to be humorous. Oh well.
I actually went back over to RPGN for the first time in ages to try to clarify. Sorry guys.

Personally I think the maps thread was/is great. A problem was encountered and as far as I can see resolved to a mutually acceptable solution with apologies for thread derailment. I mean yes it would be better if problems never happen but I think that's unrealistic. Everyone seems to have moved on from it.

Is that an accurate summary?

You just want me to get off of my proverbial bum and post more naughty geography.... I'm wise to you, buster. <_<

Frank Trollman appears to have changed his screen name to "Username" + some bunch of numbers and presumably left, so I suspect that it's dying.

That and The Gaming Den was offline for a period of about four months last year. That will kill all momentum.

In general best to not indulge in too much cross-forum drama but I think when we do get on that track the Site gets at least as much mockery as TBP.
Actual Rpg.net gets more as they made pidting anything and everything positive about the police a bannable offence. One can have the the most objective and irrefutable proof and one gets banned perhaps permanently.

The RPgsite is not perfect by any means at least one is not getting banned for saying something positive about the police.

Either way between the two extremes makes me happy this place exists
