'Eh, I doubt our dopey doggie went down here, but stranger things and all that', Axel shouted over to Flim. 'And if he did, I'd lay good odds that the little so-and-so went down one that's too small for us! Come on, I'm going to try this big one on the left', he said shining his newly acquired light into what he hoped was a sturdier pipe.

Gambon: You emerge from the manhole into a small cobbled courtyard surrounded by sheds. It looks like a maintenance area. One shed has an anvil set up outside, another has a rack of leather strips and equipment for decorative studding and embossing of collars. There's an improbably large turtle here with a tree growing from its shell. It's nosing aimlessly between a couple of sheds and hasn't noticed you.

Axel: The pipe appears very sturdy indeed, and leads away downward with a gentle slope. After a while it narrows to the point where you can only progress on hands and knees, then ends at a metal grate. Below is a narrow canal and on the other side, a copse of trees.

It wasn't actually a long trip, but the sky overhead is blue and cloudless. The only wind is a light breeze. You could swear there hasn't been rain here in weeks.

Gambon walks up to the turtle, assuming it friendly and possessed of the gift of speech.

"Seen a dog round here chum?"

‘See anything?!’ I call down the pipe. ‘Still alive?’

Gambon: the turtle gives you a look like it's trying to decide whether you're a lettuce leaf or a potential mate, then resumes headbutting the side of a shed.

There's a flash of light between the buildings and a distant rumble of thunder.

"Ah, a bloody normal animal then, just when I could have used one of them weirdos"

He looks into the shed with the anvil outside it.

'Nothing useful', Axel shouted back up. 'A grate I can't get by, but then neither could our fugitive fido. I'm coming back...'.

OOC: hopefully no problem wriggling back!

‘Probably a good idea with this storm looking to come in,’ I yell back. I look around to see what our options are.

Gambon: It's a well-equipped smithy with the usual hammers, tongs, chisels, etc. It looks like this workshop specialised in chains (of all sizes, including some large enough to hold an elephant) and decorations for collars.

Axel: Who says you can't open it? Did you have a go? :trigger: It's difficult to back up at first, the diameter of the pipe means you have to back along it for several tense minutes before there's enough space to turn around.

Voros: There are no good choices here for shelter. The only buildings here are decorative trellis-work that won't keep the rain out.

Gambon steps in an has a look around in the shed, making brief "here boy" calls for the dog. He'll do the same with the other sheds.

Gambon: there's a leather workshop, which seems to specialise in leashes, collars and muzzles. Some of them are unusually large or small, or in odd shapes. There's also a shed storing grooming tools and a machining workshop part way through assembling a cage large enough for a buffalo.

There's all the tools you would expect: hammers, saws, chisels, tongs, leather punches, shears, etc.
