The numbers to the right of each skill are what you gain automatically as part of your education. You then also get to choose 5 elective skills at 10 points each. Finally (for page 19), you get Advanced Study, which is where you choose which skills you want to emphasize. For Advanced Study, you divide your Intelligence score by 10 (round up) and add 5: the result is how many 1d10 rolls you get to add to skills you already have at least 1 point in.

I dug these out of where I had them tucked away, just in case:

I think I have a fan-made PDF for the Gorn. I don't have the Orions, unfortunately.

Edit: I also found my copy of The Final Reflection as well as a bunch of campaign notes and character sheets in my box for the deluxe edition. John M. Ford/FASA/original series Klingons is what I'm talkin' about! If Klingons show up, that is.

The Final Reflection was great! John M. Ford Klingons are the only way to go. And no worries on starting this soon. I'm still waiting for my personal effects to be transferred over from the USS Leavitt.

I'm all for encountering some Klingons, especially if they're off the starboard bow.

And Donal McLennan speaks some Klingon too. Not sure how he came about that skill just yet but there it is.

OK< I am rolling my tours, and I guess I should know my character's rank/age at this point but don't really know?

Okay, let's go through age and rank, step by step:
  1. You start at age 18 at Star Fleet Academy: +4 years = age 22
  2. Medical Branch School: +3.5 years = age 25.5
  3. Cadet Cruise: .5 years = age 26*, Medical Officers are automatically promoted to Lt. J.G.
  4. Department Head School: 1 year = age 27, promoted to Lieutenant
  5. Number of Tours Served (prior to game starting): 1d10 ÷2, rounded down, +/- for Int and Luck, +1 if you want to be a Lt. Commander (recommended but not required), +1 because you'll be a Department Head, +1 because you'll be a Constitution-class officer. Each tour is 1d10 ÷2 years, rounded down. This means you may have anywhere from 1 to 9 tours on your CV for 1 to 45** (!) years of prior service. Your final age will be from a minimum of 28 to a high of 72 (unless you failed your cadet cruise) and your final rank will be Lieutenant or Lieutenant Commander (your choice).
* Note: it's possible to fail and repeat the cadet cruise; if so add +.5 years for each additional cadet cruise

** You'd have to roll 10 every time to achieve this feat so it's highly unlikely.

Thanks, that should help me finish tomorrow...

Hey all I'm on a business trip today and have relatives visiting this weekend so I may be a bit late posting my PC and starting.

Unless someone wants it, I'm going to send Lt. Commander Travis to command school over the weekend. I'll also run him through 1 more tour so his service matches a commander, which is appropriate for first officer.

Since no one else has tossed her beret into the ring and we have Captain ( Supervisor194 Supervisor194), Chief Engineer ( Stan Stan), Security Chief ( Toric Toric), Chief Medical Officer ( Gringnr Gringnr), and Chief Science Officer ( Voros Voros) assigned*, I'm going to go ahead and work up some NPCs for Chief Communications Officer, Chief Helmsman, Chief Navigator, Head Nurse**, Transporter Chief, and so on, plus some specialists in each department that you can call on as needed.

* Coincidentally, those are the positions I have found to be most useful to have filled when running FASA Trek, as the helm, navigation, and communications are really mainly shipbound jobs (although I've had players take those positions as well and come up with excuses for why "Uhura" or "Chekov" are beaming down).

** Fun fact: I only just noticed today that the Enterprise's Head Nurse Christine Chapel's name is a play on the Sistine Chapel.

Was that intentional or just a coincidence?

Gideon's finished. I just need to transfer his stuff to a legible character sheet.

From what I've read, Gene Roddenberry changed the name from "Christine Ducheaux" to make a deliberate pun. Fortunately the name itself is plausible enough that the rhyme never before occurred to me.

 I'm going to copy them all down at my end for reference once everyone is done. I'm debating what the best starting scenario is.

Dumarest Dumarest do you have a preferred character sheet? I found a fan-made one, but I don't know if it's, uh, good...?

Is there a reason you aren't using the one in the book?

I also found this online (looks like they took away the Federation symbol and updated the font to the movie era):

Is there a form fillable version of the character sheet? I couldn't find one and my handwriting is horrendous.

I annotated mine on a Mac but I can make a fillable one. Give me a day or so and I’ll get it done.

It's ok, I made a cheap imitation in Excel.

Yeah, I am not 100% sure I did it right.... I think so... But not sure...

Introducing Gideon Sinclair. Hope it's legible.

Edit: internet trouble will upload mañana.

I couldn't get the link to work, but here is a site that will let you re-size an image so you can post it here:

Hey all things are so busy at work that I’ll have to bow out for now, sorry!

We all know "work" = "My awesome DragonRaid campaign."

Anybody out there want to be our science officer?
Dumarest Dumarest we're to able to access the file I sent you?
I'll try when I get home. I completely forgot you sent it via PM and my phone has a glitch when it comes to uploading/downloading. I should be home in about an hour. Colleague has been out sick for over a week and I've been picking up her slack, which is why I haven't had a chance to post much lately.

Got it. Noticed a few missing details:
  1. You need to select a weapon for Archaic Marksmanship
  2. There is no score entered for Medical Sciences: First Aid (should be at least 10 from your Star Fleet Academy curriculum)
  3. You need to select a weapon for Personal Combat, Armed
  4. You need to enter the Space Sciences from your Star Fleet Academy curriculum (you should have a minimum of 3)

If nobody else responds and we get no replacement science officer, I'll roll up an NPC. Then I'll start a new thread probably by next week to kick things off.

Oops,

1st Aid: 30

Space Sciences-
Astrogation: 10
Astronomy: 10
Astrophysics: 10

As for the archaic weapon, is it a specific weapon, or a type?
