The Infinity RPG Kickstarter comments was a treasure trove, though I believe the choice ones got deleted.
I stopped following that- from the way they distributed the PDFs (mediafire? really?) to how long everything took, once I got my hard copy I called myself done. I really should go back and see if I can download the stretch goals...

Given how it went, I wish you the best of luck in acquiring your copies

Only two days left on the new Vaesen RPG: Mythic Britain and Ireland kickstart.

I'm reminding everyone for my own selfish purposes, since I really want to get to the stretch goal with Solo Mode!

I've spent too much on KS lately so I've been able to resist so far.
I thought last year I was bad about how much I spent on gaming tabletop and online, this year doubled that. I'm not even sure I want to share the number with everyone. Afraid you all would throw things at me. lol. Getting all completionist about tracking down things I used to own combined with going all out on Kickstarters with the "I'll take everything in that Kickstarter please" really adds up.

Hull Breach looks awesome. I don't even really like the Mothership system that much and I may still back it.

Lots of OSR stuff on Kickstarter I happened to see at random:

Horizon Rising - A doomed and sinking world. Like Mork Borg, heavily art-styled. System-neutral sandbox setting.
Hull Breach - Mothership gets a supplement digest.
Pamphlet Islands - Hex crawl islands in an archipelago. 5-10 or more depending on campaign.
I'd only seen Hull Breach before this... been trying to stay off Kickstarter.

...oh well.

I got home yesterday to find two parcels, and it seems two kickstarter projects have been delivered to me on the same day. Wow, a lucky break for me.
Both products for D&D 5E. I'm not a die hard fan of D&D, although the core 5E engine is fine, and in this case it serves well for various settings

The first parcel was Trudvang Adventures, which is the D&D 5E conversion of Trudvang Chronicles. Lots of celtic and norse influences in this setting, the artwork is great and the vibe was too good to pass up. This allows me to step into the setting without having to learn too many new rules:

The second parcel was the second wave of Fateforge, a stand-alone setting rules based off D&D 5E. Same deal, a very rich setting with beautiful production values, and familar core mechanics. First wave (core book, magic book) arrived over a year ago, then this wave arrived yesterday (creatures book, enclopedia, maps, novel, numerous other stretch goal goodies). The second pic is the entire Fateforge set from last year and this year:

I won't have time to read all this, let alone run it.
However, that won't stop me trying, I just love rpg loot!

Greetings from Greece,

Soulmist is a dark fantasy world setting for 5E.

One new world, 5 unique races, 25 new classes and archetypes, over 100 new monsters and 150 new feats and spells. But wait... There is more!

We have 3 new systems tailored to the dark atmosphere and lore of the setting. These new additions try to highlight the struggle of staying intact throughout your journey in the dark corners of Fyera, but also to give players the chance to overcome their limits and become truly heroic. The heroes of Fyera don’t usually have statues in their image or feasts in their name. Most of them die nameless in the war against the Darklands, some of them do terrible things for the good of Fyera and an unlucky few of them survive for long enough that they become villains and monsters, but all of Fyera's heroes fight for the Light, even as the Darkness grows inside their own hearts.

Well well

I’m still waiting on the cowboy Zombicide game, but I admit that I like the idea of being the monsters for once…

Upcoming kickstarter for a revamp of an 80s Mad Max inspired car battle game: Thunder Road. Anyone familiar with the original?

A Dark Fantasy Pen n Paper D20 System World Setting

That phrase needs some punctuation or a restructuring.

Also a D20 System for 5e? Think you might want to include an ”inspired by” or “compatible with” for one or both of those.

For a moment I got tempted into backing Marvel Zombies because the minis are so incredible. But the cost is SO HIGH and I already spent a total of about 1000 dollars on 3 other Kickstarters over the past year (one of which is a Zombicide game too). It's hard to pass up, but I've just gotta. The base pledge alone will cost about 200$ CAD with shipping and that's missing out on so much.

I kind of feel annoyed by this whole "FOMO" (fear of missing out) phenomena that companies are using to manipulate people into sales.

At this point I won’t support any project that has bonuses only available in the first day or two of a campaign. I’ve had so many experiences of not getting notifications on projects starting, or projects not showing up on searches until long after they started, that Early Bird specials just seem like a middle finger to backers to me.

Yep. There were a couple of Kickstarter campaigns in the past year that I was interested in supporting, but they added bonuses only available in the first day. One had a bonus that was only available in the first couple of hours. So I just didn't back them at all. No thank you.

Yeah this seems counter productive. Bonuses for supporting the kick starter or KS special editions make sense because they are trying to entice people to pre-order at some risk. Only offering items for early backers though seems really manipulative, I know for me, it would quickly go from interested to a no even if I had time to be in the early group. I'm already thinking about giving you money a year ahead of time, don't be so demanding. It not only seems in bad taste but suggests desperation which is not encouraging.

Limited extra cost items like signed copies, or some older product that they have a few copies of being the exception, I get that in those cases they can only offer so many and people are paying extra for them.

i’ve heard tales that part of it is that Kickstarter’s system is such that projects that take off early on get more promotion, be it in terms of getting mentioned in promotional e-mails (which I seem to get only rarely, but that’s another story) and “Project We Love” highlighting. I suspect it also effects appearances in general searches based on my experiences, but then we get to me sharing personal tales and sounding like I’m wearing a tinfoil hat as I talk.

I don't back or not back based on the qualities of the campaign- those are just added bonuses if I already intended to back. And if I didn't intend to back on day 1- I don't. The new Mothership campaign and Vaesen Ireland both had those. I wasn't sure where I was going to back even though I knew I was. And I still acted as I would have if they didn't have them... I put them on remind me, and chose to back later.

There's some misconception that funding in the first day (or few hours) makes it more successful overall- it's what these Kickstarter 'helpers' pitch. From my experience in working with creators, it alienates as many as it attracts. And it makes it more likely that people will back out later, or even worse, become more irate at any bad news. I'm not sure why that phenomena exists- maybe they feel resentful? Not sure.

But even more than stretch goals, I think it's a bad idea that needs to be handled with more grace than most projects can muster.

Green Ronin is apparently doing Cthulhu in AGE. They have one of those limited-time bonuses to increase the FOMO.

We're excited to launch our next Kickstarter: Cthulhu Awakens Roleplaying Game.

As a fan of ours, we want you to follow our pre-launch Kickstarter page. Clicking "Notify me on launch" will help ensure we have the strongest launch possible.

If you back the campaign in the first 48 hours, you'll get the first issue of the Cthulhu Awakens zine, DREADCRAWLS, in PDF or print plus PDF, depending on your backer level. ISSUE #0: STRANGE PLACES presents the first of our random adventure generation tools, featuring Mythos locations ranging from offices with secrets to non-Euclidean alien temples. You'll get the first issue of DREADCRAWLS before anyone else and for FREE. This and future issues of Dreadcrawls will be available for public purchase once the Kickstarter is fulfilled.

Coming Feb 15, sign up for launch announcement

They are at least being upfront about the bonus being available for later purchase.

In other news, despite the official Kickstarter Zinequest being delayed until August for some reason, mow that it's February a bunch of RPGzines are dropping. My favorite so far is Planar Compass 3:

I've got the first two issues, and this is one of the best OSR products I've read for capturing that Spelljammer/Planescape vibe I like so much.
