Well, I was about 5 hours late to trying the US website. Queue was a minute thirty. It was only $200. Based on the Necromunda box, I was betting $300, so pleasantly surprised. I got in the first wave of shipping and got one of the free metallic measuring gauges, so they either truly ordered a ton, or the US isn’t as psyched on Killteam. Anyone hear about how it went in your country?

At least in the group I belong to, the reception was lukewarm to the new rules, so don't know if there was the huge queue GW was anticipating. The price point is good though

The rules are the least thing I wanted. Can always use more terrain, I needed some real Kommandos anyway (I’ve been using Gorkamorka Boyz), and if I return to Only War, the PCs were DKoK. So, I can dual use everything but the rules.

I was planning to go in 50/50 with a friend who's an Ork player. Then a few days before the sale, he balked and said he couldn't justify the expense - even half the box. That was frustrating.

I waffled on buying the boxed set myself and selling off the Orky parts I didn't want. Then I watched a couple of YouTube reviews on the system and really didn't like what I was seeing of the rules. Now I feel like I dodged a bullet (though I'd still like the Death Korps models).

In truth, I've got a couple options for Scifi skirmish wargames that I already like and models to go with them.

I'd like the terrain. I have no interest in Guardsmen or Orks.

The Kill Team Pariah box would very likely be a better purchase for me rather than upgrading to 2.0.

The plastic ork commandos are long overdue. Death corps of Krieg will probably be popular. I guess the question in my mind is whether the figures will eventually be available in unit boxes.

I got the Pariah Nexus box, it's nice. Necron terrain is pretty rare, but I like how it's done so you can recreate corridors inside a Tombworld.

I've still got to sell those Primaris Marines, I keep forgetting...

I heard that in the new Kill Team they changed the rules. Any quick summary on what's different? Is it a whole new game now or just a tweak?

Whole new game. New stats. Movement based on symbols tied to an official measuring device. No points - all teams are pre-constructed. No more Specialists. Heavier focus on command points. Armies no longer in the core rulebook.

That symbol thing is the most idiotic thing GW has done since Sigmarite.
Apologies for my ignorance, but I’ve barely paid attention to Age of Sigmar. What is Sigmarite?

It's pieces of the Old World after it exploded imbued with magical energy - yes, literally a Kryptonite-etsy
I really thought it was going to be some sort of magical fuel to keep the Sigmar faction members who reincarnate going.

It's my belief that GW will eventually go to putting a chip in every base and the chip will be vital to game play in some way. There really isn't anything more they can do to contend with 3d printing.

But printing parts and whole figures isn't a problem so why print a sprue?

The new rules are based on Warcry, but tweaked for shooting. Kill Teams are made up of two "fixed" fire team except for Marines which only get one fire team. Pistols and some special weapons have 6" range while everything else has unlimited range. Cover is a big deal. There's an actual narrative system based on the Crusade rules in 9E. And according to Goonhammer this version is actually fun to play.

Yeah, it reminded me of Warcry, which was a game I recall, after playing it, specifically wishing was more like Kill Team.

Had my first game at the weekend, and it flows very nicely. Fast and brutal.

Even the range ruler was kind of useful, but the symbols actively work against cognition because they don't match the number of inches associated with each one.

If it had been circle = 1", lens () = 2", triangle = 3" and hexagon = 6", the association would have been automatic.

The line of sight rules are like a word salad, but that's GW for you. Otherwise it feels like a solid game.

The core rules are unreadable, but after some experience on the tabletop, I've figured most of it out. The symbols for distance aspect is okay, but that number of sides = number of inches wasn't used is baffling. Nearly everything is done in 2" steps though.

Melee combat is freakin' deadly! I play Death Guard, and had waltzed every skirmish in 1st Edition Killteam. No-one could scratch my fat fellas... No more! While Death Guard can take (and shrug off) a lot of damage, they aren't hilariously invulnerable any more. Also my blight launchers are no longer the answer to every question... So I've actually got to put some thought into my weapon picks.

The Orks (my opponent for these games) play as expected. A little squishy, crappy armour, but plenty of boyz to gang up on you and surprisingly good Kommandos.

Once you've worked out the rules, it does play quickly. But it doesn't read well in isolation.

After more games with a variety of fire teams we've found the game plays well enough to be an enjoyable alternative to skirmish level 40k.

However, the stupid movement symbols remains nonsense.

Also, never let anyone play Adeptus Custodes. Ever. Those shiny arseholes are insanely overpowered... Maybe if you only got two of them. Sisters of Silence are fine though.
