Monte Cook Games' Gen Con announcement is this double whammy. Link.

To the best of my understanding, Discovery is a revised edition of the game (which changes some specifics of the classes but the Cypher System remains in place — not sure what to make of this until previews roll in) while Destiny is a community/stronghold/domain building and management game (squee) for Ninth World games.

Numenera is a game I've been meaning to try pretty much since it came out; I like the more sedate, Gene Wolfe take on science fantasy (as opposed to the silly, over-the-top approach that seems to dominate the OSR) and the system, while somewhat iffy in places, I have yet to try.

And I have to say that with Jade Colossus covering procedural dungeon generation and Discovery doing domain management, Monte & co. seem intent on recruiting me as a customer.

Yeah I'm very interested in Jade Colossus and Discovery. As much as I like Numenera's setting, I think that it could have benefitted from more random generators to help build the world and to give more tangible goals to the player characters.

I'll pass on the new core book, though. Already invested in 1st edition, both character options and the Cypher core book. I don't think that I need anymore works about character creation.

Spot on. The setting as presented in the core book managed to feel bland despite the aesthetics. Later books offered more interesting vistas, but still — more immediate adventure hooks and better enmeshing the weirdness with the everyday life of the Ninth World, with or without random generators, would go a long way.

I thought CO1 was great but CO2 was hit and miss with me. I didn't like the Glint (too much "social skills as mind control" to me) and the Seeker feels to me like it steps on the Jack's toes. I was unimpressed with the new Foci, but the Descriptors were okay.

Nevertheless I'm looking forward to Discovery — maybe they'll continue the CO1 tendency to make the Jack less of a half-Nano/half-Glaive and more of a rogue/explorer/specialist.

Ah I'm mixing up titles. I'm more interested in the one about domain building, not necessarily new character options. I could just get the PDF of the latter book, I think.
