It is fair to say that, on the figures I've seen, that was a price worth paying in financial terms because he made a lot more than he would have starting without the exclusive.I don't fault the developers at all. Still, it is a somewhat insidious position to be in. Someone is giving you what is a big pile of money (but a pittance to them), and in return, you agree not to sell your product in the place you can reach the most people.
Partly because he's a known name, but in a niche way. With the increasing discoverability issues on Steam he's less and less able to count on first week sales with a new game.
