Peel towers were set up at the Northern borders. After being largely abandoned in the late Middle Ages, they were said to be home to a certain malicious type of Goblin called a Redcap, as they would dye their hats red by soaking it in the blood of their victims

Aw, man, and here I was thinking John Peel had a tower!

What amount of scripts do you have Tristram? 10s, 100s?

Inktober #8 Prompt: "Frail"

6 minutes, pen

I first found out about Inktober through an update from the Triumph of Death II, and this sketch was inspired by the version of The Four HorseMen of The Apocalypse's Famine from that Kickstarter (in this case, dismounted).

As I'm tossing these out as small breaks between schoolwork to rest my brain a bit, there's no way I had the time to attempt to do justice to any of the Renaissance woodcuts or paintings of Durer and Holbien, so I instead just went with a "modern interpretation".

Needless to say, most of the sketches I've done for Inktober so far have gone straight to the trash bin, but I kinda like how this one turned out. I mean, give it a day or two and I'll probably hate it (I'm very much of the practical approach that every piece of art I do is simply practice for the next one), but for now, I'm mostly pleased.

Given the infinite choices of Peel, Emma is always the right one.

Why would you want to?

I looked in my spam folder and now I feel old. Instead of just ED pills, Russian women and porn spam I'm getting dating for the over 50 crowd, stock picking, tax advice, Medicare insurance ads etc. I mean it's better targeted but I feel older looking at it.

I don't get it, I don't get any of that stuff in my spam folder, targeted or not. Only newsletters that I specifically marked as Spam.

You think you feel insulted? I took my daughter to Wendy's Monday and the cashier asked me if I wanted my senior citizen's discount. That was a unwelcome first...

Obviously it's based on Bunch Bunch's Google search history.

I have another cataract surgery in my near future. As far as eye surgeries go, they are easy peasy. That'll make it two surgeries on each eye, plus multiple laser treatments. Hopefully that's the end for awhile. The great news is that my retina specialist said that I only need to see him once a year from now on instead of every six months.

Inktober #13 Prompt: "Dragon"

23 minutes pen & Sharpie

I'd realized I've never drawn a Zombie Dragon before, and this just kinda flowed out while I was bored in a lecture class this afternoon

My wife has just put wheels in motion to buy a section in Surakarta. We decided not to buy a house as her father works as a builder (amongst other things) and Indonesian spec-build houses can be quite shoddy; he should be able to arrange building something of decent quality[1]. If this comes off I might be able to take a nice, long sabbatical and bring something to print.

One can dream, anyway.

[1] Doesn't need to be anything flash, just not leak when it rains, grow toxic mould or fall apart under normal wear and tear. Elbow room in the kitchen, a western dunny and 2200w electrics to drive a split unit would be nice as well.

Inktober #5 Prompt: "Building"

18 minutes micron pen & ink

The building in question is a "Peel Tower". Fans of British folklore should thus recognize the fellow associated with such places...

I believe these days they're called 'Leavers.'
Actually, that was probably a bit too political but I thought it was quite funny. Feel free to delete if it offends someone.

F*** me . Looks like 4 hours sleep, and mid-term cramming for a week and a half has finally caught up with me, because I'm not in my 20s anymore. Feel like my entire body is shutting down. Just had to call my fiance and whimpering ask her to do a drug store run for me. So I mmay not be a very active poster for a bit, I've only been awake an hour and I already want to pass out again.
