Edited my Swordfish Islands thread, and somehow this thread was born

That's me and tech for you
I should never edit on a mobile device

To confuse matters more, I then tried to delete this thread, only to see that I had deleted my previous response
I can't seem to delete this thread, so it's best to let it fade away quietly in the background...

SURFACE WARFARE OFFICER (SWO) CAREERS

America’s Navy has the most modern, advanced fleet of ships in the entire world. Surface Warfare Officers (SWOs) are trained extensively to maintain and operate these ships, their crews and their systems. Providing direction. Leading by example.

Surface Warfare Officers form the backbone of Fleet leadership. In this role, you will have the opportunity to excel as a leader. You could serve as Commanding Officer over an elite crew and be an authority in every aspect of your Navy assignments. Doing any or all of the following:
  • Directing personnel operations aboard Navy vessels, such as aircraft carriers, cruisers, destroyers, amphibious warfare ships, mine warfare ships and frigates
  • Managing shipboard vertical launch systems
  • Using computer displays and advanced technology in battle and ship defense
  • Providing support to Navy expeditionary forces, Theater Air Missile operations, anti-submarine warfare, surface-to-air warfare, and support and supply missions.
The ultimate goal for many: to one day command their own ship.

Sounds like an RPG waiting to be written and played.

I am getting a real Traveller vibe here.

Surface Warfare Officers are involved in virtually every aspect of Navy missions. As a SWO, you may be in charge of any number of shipboard operations and activities while at sea, working with or within any of these specialized forces:

Aircraft Carrier Forces: Provide and coordinate air, submarine and surface ship defense for aircraft carriers

Cruiser-Destroyer Forces: Provide ship attack and defensive measures with a wide array of missile and fire power capabilities, providing anti-air, -submarine and -surface warfare support

Amphibious Forces: Embark and transport vehicles, equipment and personnel for amphibious assault operations

Combat-Logistics Forces: Provide combatant ships with fuel, ammunition, food and supplies, and provide repair, maintenance and rescue capabilities through Fleet Support Ships

Mine Warfare Forces: Detect, identify and neutralize threats from hostile use of maritime mines

Nuclear Forces: Work on some of the world’s most powerful nuclear-powered submarines and aircraft carriers.

Pretty sure Clash has covered everything from a Barque to a Zumwalt Class Destroyer in the In Harms Way series.

Hmmm... Runequest ducks in Traveller. Short, angry and avaricious raiders from Skruge638.
I played a Humakti death duck once. He totally wasn't called Howard.

I also played an Issaries Goldentongue once called 'Ham.' He introduced multi-level marketing to Sartar in a method that (naturally) came to be known as 'Ham's Way.'

He also made a critical Oratory roll in Dragon's eye and got a branch started there. Dragon Newts are wierd.

I'm sorry, I'm all for open discussion but Mankcam's post is just too offensive to let stand.
I can't help but agree. This is going to degenerate into the usual pro-Swo anti-Swo bullshit that's dragged several other forums into the muck.

The fact that Baulderstone and Endless Flight haven't done anything is further evidence of their Pro-Swo stance that they barely conceal at times. If Mankcam isn't banned the rest of us should leave, especially after weasel-worded garbage that pretends to be Swo-neutral like this:

You are reading entirely too much into my "This Is Why Swo Don't Like You" thread. I was collecting those screenshots purely out of academic interest. There was no agenda behind it.

As this is obviously a reference to SocialistWorker.org, the OP is in clear violation of the Pub's No Politics Rule. I demand that all participants of this thread, including the moderators and myself, be banned immediately!

This statement needs to be fact-checked. It's just another example of posters on this forum making empty statements with no regard to Truth or Facts, and further proves our need for the moderators to step up in their policing of such blank arguments devoid of anything beyond vacant assumptions.
