I think I don't "get" Troika. Everytime I see or read anything about it, I'm like...I had Troika in PDF but never read it. I just realized it's just Fighting Fantasy with Kool backgrounds. That's not bad but I was thinking it was something new.
I love that detailed b&w art, full of flavour.
Did you get the Fighting Fantasy books? Warlock of Firetop Mountain, etc? Well it's that basic system with backgrounds that give specific skill bonuses. That's my quick read of it.I think I don't "get" Troika. Everytime I see or read anything about it, I'm like...
Man I'm loving what Fire Ruby is putting out. I have Warpstar! on the way to me too, and I was eyeing the other books in the line. How are Omoron and Caldera?

Enticing enough for me to follow the trail and check these releases out

I actually don't "get" a lot of things. I'm starting to think I'm way less intelligent than people tell me. Oh well.I think I don't "get" Troika. Everytime I see or read anything about it, I'm like...
I always think about NKVD tribunals administering summary judgments in Stalin’s Russia. Which I assume is not what the company was aiming for.Everytime I see the name Troika, I always think of the long dead videogame developing company.
I just got this too. :-)This came a couple of days ago. I've been perusing it and getting a bit nostalgic, too.

I'm now wondering which one to get next.I just got this too. :-)
If it does, I just got this.I wonder, do things that only exist in electronic form count for this thread? Because that's what I'm buying the most, lately!
Yes. I come to this thread to learn what cool stuff is out there, whatever format it is in.I wonder, do things that only exist in electronic form count for this thread? Because that's what I'm buying the most, lately!
OK, next time I buy an obscure gem, expect me to post about it here!Yes. I come to this thread to learn what cool stuff is out there, whatever format it is in.
Wow! Nice friend!
They really are. He and his wife I've known for almost two decades now (and are among the few associates I knew during my time in Atlanta who didn't turn their back on me during the divorce). When I do visit Atlanta (hoping to be able to do that again during the summer), he's the one who has run various one-shots for me, like DC Heroes or Cepheus Engine/Traveller, while I hang out at their place.Wow! Nice friend!
Everytime I see those blue ink maps, my brain leapfrogs instantly to the late seventies and early eighties. Fond memories.Another kickstarter fulfillment this week - the latest Dungeon Delves from R. Nelson Bailey. As always, the art and maps are great. The Secret of the Silver Spire will probably make its way into my current OSE game in the near future.

And I'm still pondering it...I'm in the same boat. Every time I get ready to pull the trigger, something holds me back.
I was hoping this kind of game design died out in the 90's but I encountered it with the recent reboot of SLA Industries. It's a deal breaker for me.all the answer I get is "more background will be unraveled in future Odd Soot releases". Which is the kind of things that really, really, rubs me the wrong way. I'm a bit tired of that "mystery box" J.J Abrams bullshit. Give me what I need to start and run my campaign.

Meanwhile... I'm also intending to order some Warlock! books in premium hardback before the prices go up on DTRPG and, yesterday, I ordered the Pirates of Drinax from Mongoose and it arrived about 3 hours ago.
Yeah, that looks really pretty! I'd like a copy of that. In fact, I thought about getting it too but it's pricey and I already have the standard core book. I'm going to snag the two Compendiums instead and maybe the bestiary (Phantasmagoria I think?).I'm waiting for a reprint of the Warlock! Black Edition. Really cursing myself for not getting one when I had the chance.
