I had Troika in PDF but never read it. I just realized it's just Fighting Fantasy with Kool backgrounds. That's not bad but I was thinking it was something new.
I think I don't "get" Troika. Everytime I see or read anything about it, I'm like...

I'm loving both Zweihander (revised core book + 'main gauche' companion volume) and Cubicle 7's current WFRP 4E line - beautiful artwork, full of flavour and grimey goodness

Just can't get enough of it at present!

Did you get the Fighting Fantasy books? Warlock of Firetop Mountain, etc? Well it's that basic system with backgrounds that give specific skill bonuses. That's my quick read of it.

Man I'm loving what Fire Ruby is putting out. I have Warpstar! on the way to me too, and I was eyeing the other books in the line. How are Omoron and Caldera?

I read (to the degree I'm able, digital isn't for me) the Warpstar! books. Omoron and Caldera are both smaller (around 80 pages) books that detail a region of space and contain scenarios.

Caldera is a Hegemony-dominated, resource rich system that the other factions are eager to try and gain a foothold in. It describes some planets and moons in light detail and the local politics. Most of the book is made of two linked scenarios, and a few monsters fit in the last couple of pages.

Omoron is a more frontier, barely settled star cluster, with barely any Hegemony forces. The Merchant Combine holds sway through the local noble house, the Duke of which just died, leading the current political upheaval as his potential heirs start eyeing up knives and backs. Again, planetary descriptions, some new equipment (and a helpful table of what is easy/expensive to get out here). Two scenarios, couple of extra monsters and stats for a boat!

I love that detailed b&w art, full of flavour.

Enticing enough for me to follow the trail and check these releases out

The premium price put me off for a while, but I decided to splurge and get all four together, so the delivery was super quick.

I will definitely pick up the Warlock! books too, but there are more of them, so I can't just grab 'em all at once.

I actually don't "get" a lot of things. I'm starting to think I'm way less intelligent than people tell me. Oh well.

I wonder, do things that only exist in electronic form count for this thread? Because that's what I'm buying the most, lately:grin:!
If it does, I just got this.

Just got all of my Old School Essentials Advanced Fantasy books from the Kickstarter-- the individual booklets and the two tomes-- and they are so sweet. The booklets fit right in with the core rules boxed set, while I can work with my Referee's Tome and buy each of my players their own copy of the luxury Player's Tome.

So sweet.

And since TSR D&D is TSR D&D is TSR D&D, it's about half-compatible with my Player's Option stuff.

Got these in the mail yesterday as a gift from a friend.

I ran Dead Planet for on of my groups, and it was great. It's a very grim module, and we got 16 or 17 two-hour sessions out of it. It can be much shorter, depending on how you present it. It's effectively three adventures. They all join together, but they don't have to.

Wow! Nice friend!
They really are. He and his wife I've known for almost two decades now (and are among the few associates I knew during my time in Atlanta who didn't turn their back on me during the divorce). When I do visit Atlanta (hoping to be able to do that again during the summer), he's the one who has run various one-shots for me, like DC Heroes or Cepheus Engine/Traveller, while I hang out at their place.

Another kickstarter fulfillment this week - the latest Dungeon Delves from R. Nelson Bailey. As always, the art and maps are great. The Secret of the Silver Spire will probably make its way into my current OSE game in the near future.

Everytime I see those blue ink maps, my brain leapfrogs instantly to the late seventies and early eighties. Fond memories.

I ordered my at cost PoD copies of Agents of BAMF and Sword Noir 2nd edition last night. Also got word from Gallant Knight that they mailed me a replacement for the limited edition hardcover of Tiny Cthulhu (since the first one was slightly damaged in transit). Hopefully this one arrives in better shape. I want to give the other one to a friend, as he expressed interest in playing a Cthulhu game

My POD copy of Kevin's Worlds Without Number book arrived Saturday but I haven't managed to do more than flick through it. Lokking forward to sitting down to read that in upcoming weeks as his work is always great.

Received and read my copy of Odd Soot, Liked most of it, I saw myself using it as a nightmare/dream/uchronia (characters wake-up in Odd Soot's 1920's thinking they're in "our" 1920s). Really dig the extended conflict rules (which basically allows you to have action scenes that don't focus on combat). Love the E.Ts, the setting, the illustrations....

And then I try to learn a little bit more about the central concept of the game, the Soot (basically a strange disease/infection that makes you go mad, but these madmen seem to have a common goal....) and all the answer I get is "more background will be unraveled in future Odd Soot releases". Which is the kind of things that really, really, rubs me the wrong way. I'm a bit tired of that "mystery box" J.J Abrams bullshit. Give me what I need to start and run my campaign. If the counter-argument is "you can come up with your own explanation" then, well, I can come up with my own game as well and I don't need your book.

So, yeah, good book, even better if you don't care about the point I mentioned, but that pissed me off enough to resell it.

I'm in the same boat. Every time I get ready to pull the trigger, something holds me back.
And I'm still pondering it...

Meanwhile... I'm also intending to order some Warlock! books in premium hardback before the prices go up on DTRPG and, yesterday, I ordered the Pirates of Drinax from Mongoose and it arrived about 3 hours ago.

I was hoping this kind of game design died out in the 90's but I encountered it with the recent reboot of SLA Industries. It's a deal breaker for me.

I'm waiting for a reprint of the Warlock! Black Edition. Really cursing myself for not getting one when I had the chance.

Yeah, that looks really pretty! I'd like a copy of that. In fact, I thought about getting it too but it's pricey and I already have the standard core book. I'm going to snag the two Compendiums instead and maybe the bestiary (Phantasmagoria I think?).

My loot from the Haunted Hamlet Kickstarter arrived yesterday. I got both Willow and The Haunted Hamlet and 5 illustrations on cards with fun useful gaming info on the back. Lovely looking stuff!

My OSE Kickstarter finally arrived. I am happy with the material and feel like I got an excellent deal. I backed for the 4 "advanced fantasy" rulebooks and pdfs but they threw in 4 extra books as part of the stretch goals. If this company did another Kickstarter I would definitely take a look based on the success of this one.
