"I'll speak to Bai, see what she wants to do now"

Nils heads out and down to the MedBay. He acts cheery as he enters.

"So our favourite captive, we're here and your course corrections worked beautifully. What do you want to do now? Wanna leave straight away or help us with checking out the casino and see if we bring you good fortune?"
"I'll take what's behind Door Number Two, Dave," she responds, referring to a popular holovid gameshow Nils may or may not have seen.

Nils can't help but smile.

"Wonderful, once we dock I'll set you free. See you shortly"

He heads back to the bridge.

"So let me see if I get the plan here. We're going to all leave this ship and go looking for work. Simultaneously we're going to set free a person we've kidnapped and who's ship we've stolen. Someone with low regard for our planning, technical and intimidation skills. Someone I shot I would add. And we're counting on her not running straight to the authorities and giving them descriptions and every piece of tactical knowledge she has of us to them? Please tell me that's not the plan." Trip asks/says sarcastically

‘I think we’ll have to keep her under watch until it is safe to let her and the ship go,’ I say. ‘After all if anything goes wrong we’ll still need this tug to run.’

"I'm happy to keep her company her and guarantee she doesn't cross us." Trip offers

"Well we either kill her, keep her captive long term, release her somewhere uninhabited...and out in the frontier that's just a form of killing her...or see if she'll work with us. A fairly lawless system with no unified government like this is probably the best place to try. I'd imagine the law only extends to a weapons check at the casino docks, but no formal body she can report us to or possibly anybody who'd care.

If we enter and see a big Police sign, well then we can reconsider"

As you debate your course of action, your comm panel starts indicating that your ship is being hailed:

Volodimir notes to himself that Trip is the least capable of keeping watch over a prisoner...in his current state. But he says nothing, not wanting to be overheard on the radio, and merely makes a note to oppose such motions, if the plan goes in that direction.

I answer the Comm.
"...Lucky Star Hotel & Casino administration hailing approaching merchantman identified as Starship 21ZNA9. Welcome back. You are cleared for arrival at Docking Bay 5. Just follow the beam. You know the drill, Captain Fong. I hope you've brought that, uh, aphrodisiac I requested."

"Wonky drive is starting to sound better to me if this guy knows the captain." Trip offers nonchalantly

"Aphrodisiac?" Nils says bemused. "I'll ask our guest about that, don't want surprises...and I gotta know" he says with a laugh.

He runs to the Medbay.

"Bai, a guy at the docks is asking about an aphrodisiac, what's that about?"

Volodimir sits down and groans. "Wonderful! She said they had not loaded yet..."

I send out a confirmation signal and follow the beam to dock.

‘Nils can stay close to her, she seems smart enough to know crossing us isn’t worth her life and there’s little reason a cosmic casino is going to care about what happened on another planet, these stations are usually owned by yakuza to begin with.’

"Bai, a guy at the docks is asking about an aphrodisiac, what's that about?"
"That must be Lamont. He keeps asking us to bring back the beak of one of those giant birds," says Bai. "He thinks if he grinds it into a fine powder and snorts it, his dick'll get hard and stay up longer. Poor guy is a limp-dick loser. I almost feel sorry for him. But even if it were legal, which it isn't, he can't pay anybody enough to take the risk of hunting one of those things."

The autopilot follows the beam and the freighter glides into the assigned docking bay to make a gentle landing--apart from your wrecked cargo ramp scraping the floor. The bay door closes behind you and you receive a communication advising you to wait for a red light over an entry hatch to turn green, indicating that the docking bay has filled with breathable atmosphere. About five minutes pass and the light changes color, then a couple of teamster-operated forklifts scoot out of a garage door to help you unload your nonexistent cargo.

"Well so much for failed drives... Who's watching little miss sunshine?" Trip asks while making sure his SMG is fully loaded and clips are hidden about his person. He does the same with the autorifle preparing for it all to go to shit shortly

"Either me, or Nils. In your current state, I wouldn't let you watch over anything but frozen carcasses", Volodimir answers.
"Since Nils is our newly-elected leader, I guess it would be me."

I turn on the outsider intercom. ‘No cargo to unload today boys.’

"Why you gotta fuck with our overtime, Ziyi?" laughs one of the teamsters, apparently mistaking you for the usual navigator due to comm distortion. He signals to the others to back away from your ship, but not before getting a good luck at your smashed-up aft. "What the hell happened? Pirates?"

"Hmmm...speaking of illegal substances, any idea what kind of price we'd get for Numbitol or Allevitol here?"

"Hmmm...speaking of illegal substances, any idea what kind of price we'd get for Numbitol or Allevitol here?"
"Not bad, but not great with Xenochrophis only a week out. Too easy to get. The big bucks are farther out. We get five hundred credits for a dose, usually."

"Well, it's still some pocket money", Volodimir reasons.

OOC: Are Nils and the captive still wih us? If not, disregard this post!

OOC: in which parts of the ship are the different PC? I admit I've lost track.

And specially for Voros Voros - why "vandals", did they burn Rome? Oh wait...you meant an answer. Now I feel like I've missed more than I thought!

OOC: I'm in the medbay with Bai, just next to the bridge. I'd probably hear you if you shouted

'Vandals,' I say.
The teamsters just laugh and ride their forklifts back to where they came from, leaving the docking bay unattended except for a pair of customs officials you can see through a window into their office by the entry hatch into the rest of the space station.

'Alright, slow and steady boys. Bai, just stay quiet and you'll have your ship back soon enough.' I lower the damaged ramp if that is remotely possible and exit.

It isn't possible to lower it but you could always exit from the forward ramp instead.

"Right Bai, with me. Don't try anything"

Nils sets her free from the bonds Volodimir put on her and gestures for her to walk in front of him. He'll let Volodimir take over once they walk out of Medbay past the bridge.

Trip waits a bit sitting at the turret controls in case things go horribly wrong. If they exit the cargo bay he'll run out after them.

IC: Volodimir follows the rest.
"Well, seeing as you're going out, I'll join", he says.
In other words, if they're not leaving Trip with the captive, it's all fine.

OOC: bonds? What bonds? Volodimir is pretty sure he could talk Bai into being reasonable, if needed... but of course, if Nils is bringing her out, he won't object, either.

Also, I was suddenly reminded of this game when reading the Traveller-inspired webcomic Starfall: "(T)he way to have adventure: Take a stupid decision, then follow through!"

As you exit the ship, you find your only options are to proceed through customs at the entry hatch or to follow the teamsters into the garage.

'Bai, think you can talk us through customs?'

OOC: If I remember right you tied her up initially. I was assuming she was still in those bonds.

'Bai, think you can talk us through customs?'
"If you guys will keep your mouths shut, it should be a piece of cake. They know me and they know the ship and we have nothing to declare. They'll want some ID before they let you pass, so unless there's an old warrant out for you, there should be no problem. There's no way news from Xenochrophis could beat us here."

OOC: Keeping a wounded unarmed captive in bonds for a week? What sort of monster do you take Volodimir for?
IC: Volodimir calculates jump times for a bit.
"No way they'd have warrants against me".

OOC: I assume we didn't keep Bai tied up for a week or more.

'Sounds good, no reason we can't all leave this situation a little richer,' I say as I shake Bai's hand and lower the forward ramp for us to exit. Bai and I stay in front. I ask Nils to stand right behind her.

Nils stands in behind Bai and waits to be called for ID.

Two customs officials motion for you to place any large items on a conveyor belt and for you to pass through a tunnel-like screening machine. At the far end of the screener, a third official asks for ID and a fourth asks if you have anything to declare.
