It's a weird place.Welcome to the Pub, Everloss. It's weird to say that as you actually joined before I did.

Howdy.
Been a member of a different forum for a long damn time. Took a break, went back to see what I missed and was very dissapointed in how that forum went completely off the rails and has nothing to do with games at all anymore.
Anyway, I noticed that many of the people who I thought were cool seem to have migrated here, so here I am. I guess I created a profile back in 2017, but never came back until a few weeks ago.
I'll get a profile pic and signature eventually. Thanks for making this place.
He, I like silly.Better weird than silly.
I spend way too much time on the internet reading about RPGs. I actually found the Pub about a year ago and kept meaning to get around to joining, but life was too busy.A lot of new faces today! Tell us how you found the Pub. Always curious to hear about that.
I recognize that story. Post away! If you hit a mine it will politely announce itself and ask you to remove your foot vs blow the damn thing offI spend way too much time on the internet reading about RPGs. I read stuff occasionally at EN World and very occasionally at the Site, but I’ve never joined either because the discussions there just never felt compelling enough to me.
I’ve been a member of RPGNet for years but can go months without posting anything there as (even though I’ve never been moderated in any way) it feels like too much of a minefield these days.
This place has a very relaxed vibe and some people who I respect post here, so it was inevitable that I’d end up joining.
Goose sympathizer. Ban him.Geese: There is a photo of me somewhere having a positive interaction with a Chinese Goose while dressed as an anime character, so I am okay with them.
[sigh] Still lamenting the lack of a dad-joke emoji ...
Has anyone reached out to invite Warthur and Ravenswing?
Welcome to the pub!Why thank you for the kind thought! (Alright, I'm three years late, but even so.)
I wound up GAFIAting for a few years, and then came back a couple weeks ago to the RPG Site, where I'd dropped a couple thousand posts over the years. Unfortunately, in the meantime, the place had been overrun by folks who (a) couldn't wrap their heads around that not everyone played D&D, and/or (b) screamed like slaughtered lambs every time some so-called "SJW" said anything anywhere they didn't like.
Very tiresome.
Anyway, looking at old posts, I saw a .sig from Gronan/OG saying that he found the site tiresome too, and had relocated here, so here I am to check it out. Good morning, all!

Big influx of new punters these days. Has someone been slagging us off on another board?
You are SERIOUSLY showing your age Nobby :-). The Soul of a New Machine was required reading my senior year in Computer Science. Great book. I might re-read it now that you mention it!If you've ever read a book called The Soul of a New Machine, it was about a company called Data General (now a part of EMC and best known for networked storage devices) making a competitor to DEC's VAX superminis in the late 1970s. DG was started by some ex-DEC folks, who reputedly developed their first product (called the Nova) at DEC and left to form DG when DEC's management wouldn't put it on the market.
This annoyed DEC's management immensely, and they proceeded to slag DG off to all their customers, who carefully took down DG's contact details so they could make sure they could dilligently avoid dealing with such ratbags - and then went off to DG to see what all the fuss was about. The Nova was a very successful product and DG's management were on record saying that DEC's management were some of their best sales people.
The Soul of a New Machine was also notable for the degree to which the author could spend months with a team of top engineers designing a computer, and come away from the experience with no demonstrable understanding of computers whatsoever.
I first read it when I was quite young, but a DG sales rep gave a copy to me when I enquired about their Aviion unix kit at one point. In practice it was way too expensive and about a year before Linux came out on PCs, plus the 88k was very much an also-ran in that racket - so I kind of dodged a bullet. By the time I could actually afford kit like that it was largely obsolete. You are SERIOUSLY showing your age Nobby :-). "They say they're not political, but what they mean is they don't permit any challenge to the dominant political paradigm! They only allow discussion of games, kickstarters, conventions, food, drink, family, travel, other hobbies..."The Pub is such that, the nature of complaints people have about it, tends to lead people to go "hey that sounds like a good idea"

Ultimates Hawkeye?
Wait. Let's not rush to judgement until we know his feelings on geese. But I agree he has potential.oh yeah, you're going to fit right in around here
Ultimates Hawkeye?
I have some affection for the original version, who had a character arc before superheroes got those.

And?They all need to be rounded up.
And?
He checks out! Keep him.And fired into the sun, of course.
Are you starting to see why I invited you? It wasn't just my PbP game, I'll tell you that.Phew. Almost thought I went the wrong way with that.
The silly is strong with this one.Are you starting to see why I invited you? It wasn't just my PbP game, I'll tell you that.
