Last Savage Worlds session ended with half the team in position to kill Hitler and the other half... not.

Need to plan a little bit for the next library Black Hack, but I've mostly been making that up off the top of my head and it's going fine so far.

Last Savage Worlds session ended with half the team in position to kill Hitler and the other half... not.

Being a time travel GM, I have encountered this twice. (Though not specifically the mission, but would happen if they completed it (twice! I really needed to stop having WWII and WWI missions). They are not assassinating Hitler, they were just blowing things up. One time I had them return to a world where WWII lasted 8 more years because the Bastard who took over from Hitler was both sane and worse... thus changing uptime. The second time I had Time Travellers from a different time agency come in and stop them. (They went ahead anyways, but the other time agency rescued him... because the alternatives were worse.)

I just realized that (it seems!) I haven't shared with you folks how disappointed I am in Bing's GMing...
I mean, he started just fine (some interesting houserules, I suspect he didn't know them to be houserules...but I can relate:shade:). That was going well, right until he got a strong case of GM burnout. Possibly because I asked him to sum some ability values up for me (hey, machines are better at calculations without paper)!
Alas, that was before we'd even finished chargen...does Bing suffer from a heavy case of New Shiny, I wonder:angel:?

It got better, guys! Bing just announced to me, unprompted, that Mythras is an RPG created by Bulgarian authors:gooseshades:!

I mean, I wasn't even asking it about this - the prompt was, translated roughly, "tell me more about the life of an ordinary person in Thenla, the setting for the Mythras RPG"! (Why Bing felt the need to educate me on what Mythras is, is beyond me:tongue:).

Sorry, Loz Loz and Pete, I corrected it. Not sure if it's going to remember, though...

It was difficult making this adventure from my sandbox campaign into a module. It can still get the GM lost, I am afraid.

Ran my second ever game on Roll20.

I'm encouraged that even with even with a less than popular game ( homebrew Fudge, does it get less cool than that?) in a awkward time ( weekday evening Euro time slot), recruiting players was pretty easy. And they were good, enthusiastic players.

We had massive audio issue over Discord, which suprises me because I've never had issues with Discord before. That made this really hard at times. But the player stuck with it and, adventure over (bear in mind it was just advertised as one shot), they were all suggesting they very much like to carry on with follow up adventures.

All in all, I am very pleasantly surprised by well random groups have worked out on Roll20 so far.

That's awesome, and makes me want to try and overcome my general antipathy towards online gaming. Maybe just new players would do it? I dunno...

Were you using video for your games? Or just audio?

I totally understand that feeling wary about it. I came to this with bad memories of pickup groups from MMOs and expecting the worse. I am as surprised as anyone that so far I've only encountered the sort of friendly and keen players I'd gladly play with again. But it might just be dumb luck.

I just use audio.

And just like that, the kiddies birthday party that prevented me from setting up a session, is off, due to the meteo shifting to "heavy rain with thunders":shade:!

Now I should see if I can set up some kind of group:thumbsup:!

...and now the only questions are:
1) whether I'd be able to get protesting against the BG P/ReZident*, yoga, and Character Generation into my schedule (I'm afraid yoga can end up getting dropped...and possibly some amount of sleep might be skipped),
2) Which game I should make characters for - it's either Destined or Sigil & Shadow (I should really get my own copy of that one)... and
3) How many people do I need to prepare for?!? It seems everything between 3 and 6 players seems possible. Yes, we found that much in 2 hours, without even opening the recruitment for everybody on FB - I just posted in the Discord server...

*I'm likely to meet RPG friends there as well, so some amount of drinking is kinda expected afterwards:tongue:!

I forgot to mention we also played a game of Korg, each. Both our Korgs died eventually. This game is pretty fun even though it comes down to just rolling a d6 repeatedly. It's a solo game printed on two business cards that's officially set in the Mörk Borg world. There's some optional extra stuff on an accompanying pdf.

Tonight, it's Call of Cthulhu. Trying to round up the England chapter of Masks of Nyarlathotep so it can be put to rest for the time being while we engage in some other games.

I've had pretty good luck with players on Roll20 if they actually show up, though plenty have played a session or two or three and then dropped. And we did eventually kick one player out but the kicker was he became too unreliable, we could put up with his thinking out loud and even his occasional outburst at something unfair, but when he started missing sessions left and right, or joining a session and then not participating. Now the number of folks who request to play and don't even bother responding when I ask a few questions, that's annoying, but it doesn't really waste that much time.

I've been sick and unable to sleep much the past few days but it isn't all bad. I got to make a character for an upcoming Paranoia game with a GM who really seems to grok the spirit of the game so I am pumped about that.

This week in MoonHunter's Gaming World:
I survived the change in medication regimen. Feeling much better.

Updated Mechanics for the Vampires and redid them all for CCCC. It also makes me grateful that the Supernatural Character Rules for Outsiders (The Convergence Point game of Vampires, Werewolves, Ghosts, Fey, Mages, PSI, and Creatures) was worked out long ago and works better than the thematic rules for The Neo Frontiers.

I did three other NF character write ups for the thread. I have done about 1200 words on pieces for NF:S1, NF:OVA, NF:S2, and started tinkering again with things for Tales of the Neo Frontiers (The clean up book, that covers all the things from the Fan-Fic I remember and some other Anime modes.)

I am tinkering with another way to use the Power System (20.0) in Convergence Point. That magic would be "the cool bit" for a fantasy setting that is interesting, but not that interesting.

Supe My Ride 3: The Super Robot

Suit up, strap in, and power on, it's time to talk mechs in Metahumans Rising!

So recently an employee from a certain board game company really did me a huge favor, saving me many 100$ worth of cash that was pretty much doomed to be lost forever. I won't mention how and which Kickstarter campaign, but needless to say I'm quite relieved and proud that being kind and polite got me actual results (rather than screaming and ranting on KS and Discord).

This is super awesome, but I can't tell anyone about the individual's generosity and kindness. Oh well.

But what if we ask you nicely?

HEPCATS Episode 73: Seven HEPCATS walk into a bar and Seven Nazis die.
Location: large island off the coast of Brazil in the St. Bronze’s Quarter Shard
In-game date: 6th March, 1939
Real-life date: 19th May, 2023
Present: Ayu, Baron von Braun, N0-5R, Pierre Delecto and Ron Mexico, Snaknar, Zera

The team decided that their new psychic octopus friend and their newly adopted semi-stray cat are both named Dr. Gregory Pussy, but the octopus goes by Octavius and the cat goes by Cat.

While progressing inland from their crashed ship, the team got waylaid by a mob of psychic octopuses, but got them under control by teaching them to sing “I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)”... 49 years before the song came out, thus inventing the song “I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles).”

The team came to a village with two pubs, The Hanged Baby on the left and The Hung Baby on the right. The team opted to drink in The Hung Baby, except for Hans and Franz, who went to the Hanged Baby because they heard it had stronger drinks, even if the clientele was unpleasant.

In the Hung Baby, N0-5R tried to find out how the pub got its name, and eventually found out from the barmaid/owner that she had named it after her son. N0-5R also got Amelia Earhart’s business card, and the team met a very wealthy man with dead parents who was obsessed with bats.

The team noticed a table of seven Nazis in the corner and decided to kill them all. Kit ate one’s face. Zera, being a Gygakistan native, had no context for understanding why Nazis are bad and didn’t understand why they should die. As far as she saw, these Nazis’ worst offense was being a bit loud in the bar. Still, she ended up joining in the killing. Prior to eliminating the Nazis, the team overheard them say something about a secret meeting.

To be continued…

XP +10

If anyone feels like doing some writing for Trophy they are soliciting pitches for individual sets to run through their Patreon. Paid work, if not highly paid, but perhaps some folks are interested. Here's a screen shot:

And politely, on top of that?
But what if we ask you nicely?

The company name rhymes with "civic". They've been under a lot of fire for having a few too many KS campaigns that are being unfulfilled on time, plus pandemic issues with production and shipping.

I was able to transfer the money I had submitted into "crowdfunding site X" straight to their webstore as credit, and got a bunch of games that I can enjoy right now instead of waiting another 2-3 years.

The staff member was super cool about it, but I promised to be hush hush about the favor. I don't think that they can do this for too many people, especially with all the intense and often abusive vitriol this individual's been receiving.

I'm running the next session with Savage Worlds Mars. Why? Well, one of my players asked me nicely, and she's one of my regulars...plus, a chance to run some Swords and Planet:grin:!
I also announced open recruitment on this yesterday. If I don't have a full set of people by tonight, I'd be slightly worried!
...EDIT: I don't need to be worried. I've got between 6 and 8 players after advertising for 6 max, with two of my players intending to also bring their father:heart:!

Last but not least, I'm planning to start a new thread on here...:shade:

That's not actually that bad for hobby work, so the Trophy guys are doing a decent thing:thumbsup:!

I hope you find it useful. I had a lot more information but it didn't seem related to RPG use.
Not related to RPG use? What does that even mean:shock:?!?

To clarify, I've managed to use in RPGs details of obscure courtship rituals, details of food preparation and conservation, info on historical land use...:shade:

Probably won't be gaming a lot this summer. Most of the adult group have vacation time spread out through the different weekends, or other obligations for when we usually get together. The teens and college students are mostly doing their own thing at the moment. There might be the occasional one-shot here and there, though.

On the up side, the player who ran Dungeon Crawl Classics for us in the past wants to run a DCC Umerica game once we can all get back together on a regular basis.

My character completed the Temple of Elemental Evil by joining mighty Iuz as a powerful lieutenant. How did I forget that bit? The years, they weigh most heavy. But that doesn't matter now I am one with Iuz. At least the DM softened the blow by having Iuz make my Giff Psionicist-Ninja a powerful mage AND cleric so he can come back as an NPC to torment other parties. Lulz.

Prepping an Expedition to the Barrier Peaks for next week, where I will be mostly concerned with annihilating the PCs on a weekly basis. Repeatedly. Oh, yeah, and immersion and funny voices and stuff too, of course. But mostly? The annihilation.

So, in my monster island game, I made an officer career, and they get an extra 50 points for leadership training. This ability allows them to build a group luck pool.

My group conspired, without speaking it, to make the least attentive player the officer.

Now they pester him for orders and FORCE him to pay attention. This, they fixed a problem that had been going on for a decade.
