What are y'all up to these days?

Best Selling RPGs - Available Now @ DriveThruRPG.com
I won't have any sessions to play in this week-end. Not my fault: the WFRP GM is too busy this week. The CoC one refuses to run if a player is unavailable - a habit I find something between amusing, irritating and shrug-worthy - and one of our players is visiting relatives in the country, and shall stay for the week-end.

So I might run two sessions instead...

The Sunday one is already scheduled. It's Art of Wuxia, continuing the play in my wuxia sandbox, as seen on this forum.
One of the players is printing out Confucian canon precepts to quote, willing to play his kung-fu scholar to the hilt:thumbsup:!
We should also have another new player, from the WFRP4e group.
Oh, and our player from the Pulp CoC group, who's in the country? She shall join us remotely, via discord voice. "One fantasy-Persian princess reporting for duty, sir!"

Well, we won't be at the usual place. They've got, amusingly enough, a Warhammer tournament! But then we're going to get a separate room at another FLGS, so we are playing!
I had to call one of the owners, whom I know from HEMA, but we set it up:tongue:.

...and I just realized I've set it on a day when I have a night shift:shock:!
Fuck it, we're playing all the same:shade:! My mistake, I am going to suffer for it. Seems fair:angel:!

Really excited for Savage Worlds this weekend! It will be the first time we've all been together in person since February 2020! One of our players moved to Pennsylvania a while back and typically joins via Discord while the rest of us are around my table in Chicago, but this weekend, she will be in town, too!

We are well into an ongoing campaign, where this will be the 79th session. It's just past the 4-year anniversary of the campaign in real-life time. Roughly one year of in-game time has passed, iirc.

For the past couple of sessions, I've dropped the published adventure The Eye of Kilquato into the campaign, and I'm fairly confident we'll get to its climax on Sunday.

When we were an entirely in-person group, I ran mostly theater of the mind, but would occasionally pull out a battlemap. Since we became a hybrid group, I've run entirely theater of the mind, except for one session. So I'm excited for a change of pace to pull out the full color battlemaps for the epic set piece battle at the climax of the adventure!

It feels kinda strange to be prepping an adventure that has a more-or-less linear plot, because that's just not how I normally do things, but I am confident it will be fun.

Somewhat shortened session of our DC Heroes game last night, as I helped out a bit on Angor before returning home.

Not certain which was more harrowing, having to deal with the villainy of Doctor Doom Lord Havok, or constantly being hit on by Hawkeye Bowman while working with the Champions.

I just found a "Dungeons & Dragons Guilt Table" and am now laughing at the idea...

I mean, it's nothing new, a GMing trick we'd been using since forever. But I'm curious about how well it would go with the new generation of players:shade:!

From the younger players I've had at various tables, I would think well, especially if they are more narrative focused. With the right group I could easily see several of these items spinning out into a full side quest. The best kind of campaign derailment, self inflicted.

Now you go make sure that bandit's mother is taken care of, she's too frail to work and her daughter is dead.

I second this.

The funny thing is, I'd bet good money that if you really made it look like a heavy metal vest, most metalheads wouldn't even think twice about what was on it, they'd just assume what it was.

Now if you do this, you have to "metal up" any logos or other stuff that goes on the vest. That way anyone who does actually read it will be wondering who this new band Mythras is...

They'll probably just think you got a bad batch of Mithras merchandise at a discount.

Mörk Börg is going to be easy...:shade:

Eh kinda lame. No gp value suggestions next to the items.

On man, that table is fucking brilliant. We start doing WFRP again, I’m gonna run with the idea. WFRP is known for handouts and letters PCs find, might as well make some of them hurt.

Played another session of DCC Umerica last night. Wandered around an amusement park from before the BOOM, which of course was filled with various robots that eventually attacked us.

On the downside, our wizard was killed. On the plus side, I managed to reprogram one of the robots, who is now following along with us and refers to my character as 'Mother'.

He's a good boy, yes he is.

...so what's the downside, again:shock:?

Hey, the wizard was pretty darned useful in a fight. We're gonna miss her ability to wreak havoc.
What are Warriors for, then? Get one of those instead of her:tongue:!

As a bonus, Warriors are unlikely to sprout tentacles because of a missed attack roll. A much better deal than what you get with one of those cultists of occult forces...:shade:

Parental responsibility?
...yeah, there's that, but then it's easier to fix a robot if it gets broken:grin:!

Also, from her description, I'd say it's more like "pet owner responsibility"!

I just finished my update on today's Art of Wuxia session. That was tiring:shock:!

...I mean, I started by complaining I'd written over 400 words of notes and still missed something important.
Then I wrote over 1800 in the update. Hey, it was a 6-hour session. If it was one of my marathon ones, I don't know how I'd have managed:tongue:!

Well, at least now I think I didn't miss anything:grin:!

You say that like it's a bad thing...

I'm out, too. Tired of encountering little stealth political remarks, to say nothing of the blatant offenders. Certain political positions seem to get a free pass over and over, presumably because they're shared by the moderators, which only encourages the people who can't leave it at the door. Would've thought this place learned its lesson with the 2020 fiasco. Apparently not. Let me know when the "no politics" rule applies to all politics.

¡Adiós!

Ah man and we just got you back!

Huh. Well shit. I hope you find happiness somewhere. I'll make do with the holes left by your absence. Somehow. He said, drawing the group dialogue in close.

Admittedly, sometimes I feel drawn in by the drama. But I have a short attention span, so after half a page of posters saying the same thing at each other, I stop reading that thread :-)

Works for keeping my sanity, anyway. Your mileage may vary...

...let me second the "and we just got you back" remark, man:thumbsup:!

Had two sessions since my last update and the Mutant Year Zero game is still going strong and everyone is getting properly into it now.

They killed the shark with a mix of various mutant powers - fire being the main one as the shark rammed the boat, just after biting the legs off Captain Quint*. They abandoned the ship and only one of them was in danger of drowning. I had Brody grab him and walk him along the sea bed to the nearby island of lizard folk. Brody didn't say a word all adventure and never showed his mutant power so I'm going with him being some kind of 'living corpse' now. He left the PC on the shore and walked back out to see. Hooper did a runner as soon as the shark attacked so they don't have a clue what happened to him.

On the island, they negotiated and effectively communicated with the lizard folk and as they were being escorted back to their base, a disused submarine, they were attacked by pirates. My word, Scrap Cannons are lethal. In two attacked, out of the 7 PCs, 4 were reduced to zero Strength meaning they were at risk of dying. Thankfully they all survived - crushed foot, sprained ankle, punctured liver, and severed carotid in neck. Yeah, the rules are brutal but a decent Healing skill can overcome some silly-dangerous injuries which I think gives the game a bit of a comic book feel. No bad thing as that's sort of how we've been playing it - kind of like a black comedy. Grim but more than a little crazy.

After negotiating with the lizard folk's king, Dante, they've travelled north having located where the pirates drop anchor - just off a formation of rocks called Dragon Rock, and are just about to creep onto their ship for a bit of night-time action.

Should be an action-packed sesh in a couple of weeks.

* He's not died, I'm just going to bring him back as:

Blackadder Series 2 Episode 3 - Potato Full Script (with Tom Baker)

After several misadventures, we were finally able to get the two party members who had been shrunken down back to normal sized. We found out a bit after that the whole maze was made for children to play in- which made a lot of the effects make more sense. We were invited to a repast in the castle- a couple of people are weirded out by the castellan saying he'd love to have us for dinner. But it will be fine, right?

In the Exalted campaign, I found the way to my former self's world and entered in a temple. Someone came down and remarked how much I looked like the personification of my former self, and thought I was an actor. I brought my artifact gauntlets back from their storage space, and he went down on one knee. When someone asks if you're a god- say yes!

On the GM front, it appears that the other person who usurped the GMing is calling it quits- his studies are taking too much time. So now I have to figure out what I want to GM- planning to have a sketch of it by Friday! (no pressure)

Octopus isn’t my favorite food, but I’ve had it raw and fried and it’s ok. Actually eating it live, Sannakji, I’m not really down for.
