Watched the newest Gabriel Iglesias (Fluffy) special on Netflix. It's the same material he did when I saw him live earlier this year, but it's still funny as hell.
Finished. Overall nicely done, with many great moments. Some of the character building was sacrificed in favor of wrapping the story in the last two episodes. The ending was decent, yet still managed to feel forced.Netflix
The Bastard Son and The Devil Himself
I'm only on the third episode, but there's a wow factor in every one so far. Acting is solid. Characters are fully three-dimensional. Story moves along extremely well, and the scenes that are glossed over are truly not necessary or a result of deliberate editing. World building feels a bit shallow, but that's likely because we're following a narrow perspective. There's potential for it to open up a bit.
HIGHLY recommended. Will update as I get through more.
What's shouty kid mode? There aren't even any kids in there, other than perhaps one, so I'm having a hard time understanding it.then got into shouty kid mode
We always watch at least one horror movie on Halloween (often times I will watch a bunch but I only had time for one this year). Last might my wife wanted to watch The Nightmare Before Christmas, but it wasn't streaming for free so we ended up watching Edward Scissor Hands, which I had not seen in a long, long, long time. Completely forgot that Alan Arkin was in it (and how funny his character was). One thing I didn't notice before was how odd the behavior of the town's people was at the end after the bully gets killed by Edward. They basically hear Winona Ryder's explanation (where she tries to protect Edward by saying they both killed each other, using one of his spare scissor hands as proof), and someone shrugs and says "well I'm going home". This is a small, small community. I think it might even just be a single culdesac, so as bad as the Anthony Michael Hall character was supposed to be, it is still a crime scene, and he's like one of their neighbor's children (his parents might even have been in the crowd that decided to go home to bed for all I know because I don't believe we even see them: possible I am wrong here).
Either way, better than I remembered it being (only saw it once or twice). I like the Vincent Price cameo, and I enjoyed the fairy tale take on Frankenstein. One of the best parts of the movie I think is how the townsfolk initially all respond as if there is nothing too unusual about Edward when they meet him (besides some initial vaguely nervous curiosity, and the church lady, no one seems phased by this man created in a lab).
That's why the witch lives deep in the forest. City inspectors put their foot down on her questionable building techniques.I treat this movie essentially as a fairy tale, and people in fairy tales typically don't tend to ask a lot of questions. Nobody questions a witch using Ginger bread as a roofing material, or where all those evil step parents came from.

I personally think it’s the best DC animated movie in about ten years. 85/100.
Looks interesting- have to try it!Watched Day Shift with my wife, I found it an amusing comedy horror flick, a bit like a low powered Blade with some Men in Black aspects. Very gameable.
It was one of the inspirations for my rpg Hunter$. It's not a great film, but for what it is, it entertains. I liked how it presented vampires as not all being the same, but not in a WoD sort of way.Looks interesting- have to try it!
Almost every anime I have seen has sone kids who just shout all the time. I have had to stop watching some because of that. What's shouty kid mode? There aren't even any kids in there, other than perhaps one, so I'm having a hard time understanding it.
Finally getting around to watching Armoured Trooper VOTOMS in its entirety. For research. But also, mecha.
She's not really that big a part, so I was able to overlook that- and because she's sort of sorting her own stuff, it just became understandable to me why she put on the facade.Rebecca, Pilar's sister, become progressively shouty to be point where the becomes really annoying in the last but one, or last but two episodes
