This is almost a conspiracy theory, but... there is just something that makes me suspicious about the way the Warhammer 40,000 line of games all feel like they are almost great games that just fall short in a few critical ways. Especially since they were published by Games Workshop, who are if nothing else scary-good at making money.
I just read your username pronunciation guide. I've been pronouncing your username as Sedna, like the Inuit sea Goddess.
As a side note I new a girl whose name was Shayanna, but pronounced it as She-ah-nah.
I'm starting to like Roman-era games more and more. Should I make this my next Refereeing Trademark? The current ones are Wuxia/Kung-fu/Martial Arts, Swashbuckling, S&S, Cyberpunk and Mysteries. And I'm trying to add SF as well, but I need more work.
As a bonus, there's some great d100-based Roman games: Mythras Rome and Maelstrom Rome!
Two of my Hunter: the Reckoning players ended up wrestling with a burning zombie until it finally expired, walking away with severe burns. I'm not sure if it quite fits the intended feel of realistic heroics, but I'm at least satisfied that they'll remember this campaign.
I am being told by an old timer in our group (a notorious railroader GM, no less) that I am a bad person for having people roll for their starting career in WFRP. And this is not a random internet person, it’s a friend who I’ve been gaming with on and off for 20+ years. Seriously, this fucking hobby.
You know, I have complained repeatedly against tastelessly applied edgelording in games. But I'm sort of bemused at the F&F writers' apparent conviction that roleplaying should only ever be a safely bland exercise in wholesome monster-slaying and anyone who puts anything other than that in their game is a SICK PERVERT.
Discovered recently: I can actually do the "pistol squat" on one of my legs (but I need something to support me on one side). The other leg needs to build just a bit more strength before that (and obviously I need more balance on both, because I need the side support to avoid toppling).
Life with kids teaches you a lot.
It's very weird to read the news today, and find one of my ex-girlfriends leading a campaign against a writer I know. Even weirder that we stopped dating pretty much because of things I said about said writer....
Planning to play Fractured Kingdom with a solo engine (houseruled by me, but including parts from the WoD Solo engine, Mythic and CRGE). The first PC is going to be a Verdant guy with a knack for languages. Still now sure what the second PC is going to be.
...how "dead" is a Grave Lucid's body? Rotting? Fully functional except it feels less pain? Something in-between? @Certified ?
First Daughter got her first sword/saber lesson today. It was nice, she's taking well to the steps and almost didn't hit the floor with the downwards strikes!
First Son got his first sword/saber lesson as well. He only hit himself once, so it's good for him as well!
Of course, they're 7 and 3, so I wasn't hard on them. And they were using adult-sized bokken.
We needed a warm-up before MA practice.
