Hey gang,

I'd love a bit of help with choosing a scenario. I'm running a game at a small local con (first time). I've a 3 hour(ish) slot.

I'm running a light spooky game for a PG audience. I might use CoC rules or some modern OSR variant. Something with a bit of action, investigation and a bit of horror thrown in. Stranger Things tone, maybe?

Any of you know any scenarios like that I could pick up on Drivethru?

Ta very much!

Yeah, ok, I guess some of our horror modules are a bit "PG-ish".

Horror in Hopkinsville fits that theme pretty well. Ancient Terrors too, if you're looking for something more historical. Graveyard Dog would also fit. I'd stay away from The Blood Countess and Death on Wheels (the vamp killer thing is probably not what you want).

We just did an 80s "Stranger Things"-style module called Tricks and Treats, an homage to Tales from the Darkside. The witch scenario there is probably our most PG-ish thing to date.

Thanks I'll check them out.

Stygian Fox's The Things We Leave Behind is a good collection of modern horror scenarios mainly for CoC or DG. But you could probably use them for any horror rpg. I don't use a lot of horror modules because they never seem scary enough but "Things" had an unusual amount of praise so maybe try it?

Those are pretty disturbing, especially Ladybug, Ladybug. I wouldn’t call them “PG”

Waitaminnit. Jaws was rated PG but has scenes depicting a giant shark choking down people screaming for their lives as the ocean turned blood-red. But the 70's were a different age.

Blood Brothers and Blood Brothers 2 for CoC are anthologies of very memorable B-Movie themed one-shots, many with awesome gimmicks or premises. Wanna bring dry erase boards and dry erase markers/crayons and do a silent movie? It's in there. Luchador in the vein of El Santo? That too.

These are excellent but often very dark scenarios.

The PG audience makes this more of a challenge as most of the great CoC one shots I can think of are too gory and/or dark for that requirement.

Dead Man Stomp, the intro adventure in the CoC 3rd edition rulebook, is the one really good option that comes to mind. It seems to have been reprinted in the recent CoC starter set too.
