I saw this and there is a collary to that theory. This is only true for people without kids. Anyone with kids who's spending 24/7 with them is going to seriously rethink whether they want to double/triple down on that shitshow should this happen again.
We're once again appreciating the fact we don't have kids. This semi-lockdown is really not that much of a hassle for us. I actually enjoy how quiet and empty it is outside. It's sad this requires people getting sick and dying and losing their jobs from the economy being partly put on hold.

Shopping today was a breeze since they're now regulating people's shopping behaviour by limiting the number of people allowed into the supermarket at a time and making shopping trolleys obligatory. They had everything I needed, even...

Not having success as adult game night but kids game days are going strong!

An oldie GW game but a goodie.

I gotta say I'm impressed with the quality of the plastic mini's.
For an 80's mass market sculpture they're pretty good. Based are tiny but that's so they fit on the board.

I had that, and I remember it being fun. Definitely a forgotten gem!
Fighting Fantasy in board game format. The character sheets in the box are almost identical to the books. Kinda nice to play it with the boys.

Anyone else losing weight during the coronadiet lockdown? I'm down 10lbs so far.

That’s impressive. I have lost a little, which I put down to not buying naughty food outside the house, and thinking twice before raiding the kitchen cupboards since there may come a time when new supplies are limited...

Yes, in China the big ‘general poor health factor’ is smoking. But in the West we have other things like obesity which are more common.

People with poor metabolic health, diabetes for instance, are among those susceptible. Eat well (but not the eatwell plate which is abhorrent)

Given that most of the cheap, processed foods are in short supply, I've found myself eating more fresh vegetables. Funny how a pandemic forces a diabetic to eat healthier than they tend to eat

True, that's what has me concerned about a number of my family members.

Necessity is the mother of... well, something. O.o

I read this earlier today. The guys heart is in the right place, unfortunately for him it seems he has access to some badass magnets. I'm sure this started out serious then running into problems turned into goofing off resulting in a trip to the emergency room.

At least he kept it to his nose. Everybody I know who has worked in an emergency room has a something stuck up the butt story.

A friend works in the x-ray room in a hospital. They once got a guy with a shampoo bottle stuck completely up his rectum. He told them he accidentally fell on it under the shower. True story. An operation was required to get it out.

If I were to end up in hospital with a shampoo bottle inside my ass, I really wouldn't bother with lying about how it got there anymore.

A friend of mine is a doctor, and he once told me a man came into the ER with a Gerbil up his butt. He also had a guy with a long neck beer bottle stuck up his rear (and claimed he fell on it). That guy didn't require surgery, but I think the guy with the Gerbil did

I think my anxiety is starting to bubble up again. Twenty years ago, I went through a bad spelll and was diagnosed with GAD. Occasionally over the years it has popped up again and I think this is one of those times. I feel tired a lot, have strange dreams almost nightly and I have had stomach aches the last few nights despite eating mostly bland food. I’m almost afraid to eat during work now.

Everybody’s anxiety is flaring up these days. I am no psychiatrist but I’d encourage you to keep your hours occupied with things (and, if possible, people) you love as much as possible. Physical e decide helps too, if you manage to get any. Be well! And hit me up if you wanna chat or just vent.

Stop mocking me! I'm saving the deodorant for the "Go outside" day of the week!

Scruffy face is my way of saying too close!
The more I think about it you're average crazy homeless person is who I now want to emulate. Everything about them says "Stay at least six feet away from me!"

Last week at the hardware store there was an older guy ahead of me in line, and all he was buying was a pair of 6 foot long garden stakes. You know the green heavy plastic rods you stick in the ground to tie a plant to.

I just keep imagining this guy in the grocery store with his 2 sticks going all super ninja on anybody that enters his space.

SIX FEET, SIX FEET I'm old get your diseased asses back SIX FEET!!!!! :hehe:

The person in the Governor's office has finally declared a statewide shelter-in-place order, starting on Friday through April 13.

I suppose at this point there might still be a few horses left in the barn...

Oh, and when I posted this about a week ago?

The Georgia Department of Public Health has a website that's been tracking the number of confirmed covid-19 cases, broken down by county, updated twice daily. Last night the total for the state was an even 800. Today it's over a thousand. That may just be a matter of having more testing available, but it's still not a good sign.

It's now up to over 4,700 confirmed cases.

For people wanting to see some US predictions by state
Virginia peaks in mid-May which is later than more rural or "remote" states. Anybody know why that is?

Most Virginian local papers are not available in the EU for some reason.

I don't know the answer, but Virginia has a lot of sparsely-populated areas compared to most Mid-Atlantic states. They might be anticipating a slower spread.

There's a generic model and there are state specific models. For states with few cases I believe they start using the generic model and update to a state specific as they get more data. Virginia looks to be on the low end of the amount of data. I'm guessing that's the answer to your question.

But if those lower-population areas do get an outbreak, they can have a harder time dealing with it, due to various factors.

Dougherty County, one of the smaller, more rural counties in Georgia, is getting hit exceptionally hard, with the 2nd highest number of cases in the state, and the highest rate of infection per capita, far more so than the more populated areas in the metro Atlanta area.

Yea, many rural areas don't have much by way of advanced medical facilities. It can be common to travel an hour or more to a city just to see specialists.
