My copy of the new printing just arrived today.

Politics and warfare in the 1500s as religious and secular leaders compete for power and influence.

Been waiting for this for some time and wasn't sure I'd ever actually get it to the table, but it's quite possible I will be able to manage two separate groups willing to play a full game.

Such a good game. I'd happily play this with people on TTS if we can get players.
 
I'm a big reader and student of the era - honestly moreso post Peace of Augsburg, but still game for anything c. 1500-1650.

But I've never actually played the hex and counter, GMT style games.

Mind giving a brief overview of this?
 
I've not played it myself, but it's apparently a card-driven area-movement game rather than a hex-and-chit one. It's designed for 3-6 players, though 6 seems to be the main focus, and it has considerable emphasis on Diplomacy-like deal-making and backstabbing.
