I don't suppose you can use something like the high calorie shakes or drinks to get your numbers up?
I have certain intake limitation that make those not an option. All of them have too much fat (I can only do 5g) or too much sugar (I can only do 5g), or too many total carbs or complex carbs (more than like 8g). And I can't eat that much animal protein either- it just doesn't digest if I do over 2 oz at a sitting.

...you have my utmost respect for your achievements and nutritional regime:shock:!

I have no recommendations, though:thumbsup:.

Damn. That sounds extremely complicated. You may have already done so, but maybe contacting a good Dietitian is in order? It sucks, as you are exercising, and want to continue and even expand that, but your ability to power your body is severely restricted.

Yeah, as a part of the surgery I'm seeing a dietician- in fact I'm seeing two- one I was seeing before the surgery, and one that's in the bariatric clinic. The animal protein part they're hoping go away as my body heals. The other part, it's just par for the course. If I take in too much fat, carbs, or sugar, it will lead to dumping syndrome, and I don't want that! I hear it's pretty terrible, so am avoiding that.

I have been considering the same kind of surgery myself. Let's say this part isn't really in the "pro" camp...:shade:

Animal protein features extensively in my "diet", not sure how I'd eat without it:thumbsup:.

Everyone doesn't react the same way. My ex didn't have this problem, but she had problems all her own. The other thing to note is that as your body changes, so do your tastes. Things I loved before the surgery, I can't stand now. My RN had told me not to get a lot of anything because of that, and I didn't believe it was that bad, and bought a lot of frozen fruit for smoothies. I hate them all now. I think it's the coconut milk I hate, though it could be the sweetener also. But it just tastes terrible. I used to drink water with Lipton lemonade water enhancer all the time. Can't stand it now.

...you have my empathy (what's left of it:thumbsup:). But I can't help but think that we can now safely believe it proven that the physical impacts the psyche:thumbsup:?

It's bound to come up in immersion discussions, characters, personality mechanics, passions, and such things:shade:.

Back to the fitness: I've been using the bus for the last day and a half because of the rain, and because I needed to get to the FLGS where the Changeling session was being held (which is about twice as far as my job, and I had half the time to get from work to there). And due to how tickets work here, it was the same price to use public transport the whole of yesterday. I hate missing on free stuff:grin:!

For this morning though, it was just because of the rain, and the early hour. I plan not to let the rain deter me from walking when going home, though. Walking is good for both my mood, and my waistline, I believe:tongue:!

Edited to add: nor the snow on the way back to work the next day:gunslinger:!

Yes, we've got snow now. I like it, but it can make going to work a colder experience...:coffee:

Monday I had off. But I was doing some harsh physical labor recovering the septic accesses.

YIL (Yesterday I learned) how truly steep my loops are. I know intellectually that I have two very angled grades (35ish degrees) on my loop. I know they are tough. Yesterday, I was down on the flats waiting for the library to open. I had an hour, thought I would go to Starbucks that was not to far away. So I made it there. I discovered it was closed for water main reasons. so I walked back. It took me 45 minutes to walk the 3.2 miles round trip on a fairly even path along the street. Normally I can do 1 mile in 45 minutes with my two grades.

Today - I did 10 loops

Went for another run yesterday. I struggled a bit because I don't do so well with heat and humidity but I got it done.

The last week has been a lot of physical activity preparing things for a house inspection. Still I might of done a loop or two a day, but mostly I was just grunting, kneeling, getting up, and cleaning/ repairing.

My BP for the last few weeks has been creeping upward. It has made doing said grunting, kneeling, getting up, and activities harder.

Today I did 8 loops. I can feel it hard because the activity raises my BP before it goes down. So we will see what we can do tomorrow.

Overdid it again today, but I just can't help it. Did a little less than 15 miles riding, and then a bit less than 3 miles walking. I did go out to eat and was able to get down 4 oz of Lamb, so maybe it won't be too off.

After the last twenty years of living in the United States, I've decided that I no longer enjoy by expanding profile into a sphere. While in the interim I've developed some pesky problems that make getting back into shape harder, I think that I'm going to lean into this thread as my support mechanic rather than using some odd work-supported system (that doesn't work).

In advance, thank you for your patience.

Yesterday, I was on the flats waiting for the library. There is another Starbucks in the opposite direction (and through a neighborhood). Armed with my phone, off I went. It was a 3 mile round trip, with a bit under an hour for the round trip. Again, reinforcing the concept that my loops on my hill are much more challenging than simply walking on a relatively flat path.

Today, I was again at the library awaiting opening. Off we have gone. (Almost have the path memorized.) After a session of write. write. write. I walked back to the library and awaited pick up. Still the same 3 mile round trip and well under an hour in duration.

Turns out my antidepressants have been inhibiting weight loss. Doc gave me some pills that counteract that effect and I have lost about 10kg in four weeks. Absolutely wild. Which means I am only 10kg away from my goal weight, which is 100kg. Actually ideally I would love to be 99. That would be neat. Seems very achievable.

Went to a physio and he looked really sad as he told me I am already doing everything I need to be doing and probably won't require his help. However he has given me tips to make my regime more efficient and that's really fucking cool.

I feel good. Still hate exercise and eating well. Will never stop hating it. But I am doing it.

I've lost almost 20 lbs (from 250) since the start of last month. Still a long way to my goal of 180, but crazy progress none the less. If this rate keeps up I'll reach it in 5 months. The game changer for me was a combination of exercise (In the form of getting in and out of forklifts constantly for work) and reducing portion size of what I eat. A very tight budget has also helped prevent me from eating out.

My dad wants do another half marathon in February, and wants me to do it with him, which meant immediately rolling into a new training cycle after I did the last half marathon roughly a month ago. I've managed to mostly stick to it.

I'm normally not bothered by cold weather, but I did find myself making excuses to not go out running on a few cold days lately. Fortunately, I remembered I have a gym membership. And the gym has elliptical machines with a cross country setting. So I've been making use of those on days when I don't feel like exercising outside.

Okay, I would like to apologize to the community for not posting. I have failed this board... and my accountability.

Monday - 10 loops

Tuesday - 12 loops.

Wednesday - By Day

Thursday - 8 loops.

Friday - a By Day, but I did 4 loops while drinking tea and taking a stroll.

Saturday - I did 12 loops, because obviously 10 loops is not enough.

Sunday - large amounts of lifting and carrying with 4 loops while drinking hot tea later in the afternoon.

Today -rain rain rain - so far only 15 minutes on the elliptical

Fantastic!

I'm just starting... again. As I cannot exercise much at the moment in my normal fashion (martial arts; I've got some "borken" arms), I'm in the prep phase of getting used to thinking about food and exercise differently in the "post"-pandemic world.

The last time that I did this journey I got down 30 lbs of my goal of 56 lbs before I plateaued and ended up leaving the regimen, so I'm going to use your experiences as a target.

Starting just before Christmas is hard.

I'm going to try to catch you LOL. They told me to slow down though, so maybe not. Down from 323 in August to 249 and feel gret.

Yesterday, I did six loops because it was raining. I did a really lazy 5 minutes on the elliptical.

Today the weather has been with me. I am doing 10 loops while the skies are still dry in this atmospheric river we are under.

Thursday was 10 loops in the afternoon. Morning was wet and cold.

Friday was 12 loops. Pushing things harder is possible, just unpleasant

Today was 4 loops with coffee in the morning. It might not be any warmer or dryer later in the day

Day off, and a balmy 6C so I ran 3.5 miles along the misty lake Ontario. Felt pretty good. Then I bought wine, got high, cooked dinner, and got drunk. I'll try six miles next day off, as it's been months of <4 mile shorties.

Wednesday 6 loops - I could walk more if forced, but I am just fatigued quickly

Thursday: 9 loops - I am having trouble with endurance with my BP. I could walk more if forced, but I am just fatigued quickly

Friday: 9 loops - replay

Saturday: Was about to walk between cloud bursts. And the rain started before I got 1 hex (2 meters or 10 feet, depending on your world) from the door. I will try later.

Sunday ended up being strange. I had a car issue. No Uber/Lyft to be found. I ended up walking 7 miles to where the family was. (It was fairly flat.) Now I have not been walking a lot because of feelings of tiredness. But it seems that when I was not walking in a loop AND knowing I couldn't just stop let me push on. Sure I was tired. Sure I took a 2 hour nap when I got home. But it was a new benchmark.

Monday was both a holiday and a by day for obvious reasons (see Sunday).

Tuesday 10 loops just because.

I'm not saying that everyone is the same, but I have a real problem running/walking loops, being on a running machine or whatever because of the sheer repetition. Round and around and around.

When you're on the road, or going somewhere, it always seems different. A find it harder on the body, sure, but I also find it mentally less stressful.

Do you have a partner for training?

Alas, even the Dog won't walk with me after the third loop. Nobody would do it in the beginning because I was slow. Nobody will do it now because I am faster and can walk longer than anyone in the neighborhood.

Bears. You need more Grizzly Bears. And a threatening knife for hamstringing if that isn't enough. ;)

The last Grizzly Bear in this section of the mountain range was 1885, with them all going extinct in California in 1923. The last black bear was gone about the same time (about the time Bear Road was named for its den). Though, there might be one or two in the entire mountain range these days.

Signed up for a 5km run in March, so I need to get back into shape ASAP. I've already gone for two runs this year, aiming to build up my distance and work off the excessive holiday meals I ate in the last few weeks.

Was going to be lazy on NYE, but decided to go for a walk and cycle around the lake to get my badge before the end of the year. Gamification on Garmin for the win!

Its really easy to be lazy during the long holiday break. And I'm eating and drinking too much. But this week, I'm back on the saddle: did upper body weights on Monday, and did the exercise bike yesterday for an hour. More weights tonight, and exercise bike tomorrow...

Wait. Can you order Grizzly Bear's on Amazon?
