@Timonthy I checked the RPG Publisher Charop Boards before I started, and found out that putting all my points into Art was a noob trap. You actually get better DPS (dollars per stuff) if you class into Boring Accountant at third level and sub-specialize in Project Management.

This is the most amazing thing I have ever read, anywhere, ever.

I am tempted by the Galactic Overmind level. The math makes sense. $175 for SWN 1e entire's game line in one book plus SWN 2e core book with free shipping.

This makes sense if you're looking to buy in to the game line. I've already got most of the SWN books, and much prefer electronic to physical copies.

I'll also add that every (digital) book I've bought from Sine Nomine comes in pdf, epub, and mobi. Everybody else I buy from just gives me pdfs.

Every Sine Nomine book? Odd. I've bought about a dozen Stars Without Number books, and only two of 'em came with epub and mobi files. Not that I'm complaining mind you, although it would be nice if the rest did as well.

Yep. You're exactly right. Double checked, and only some came in different formats. Noman error. It happens sometimes.

The Kickstarter campaign is about half way through, and over $119k raised. It's doing pretty danged well, IMO. So much for Kickstarter fatigue!

I don't see fatigue hitting Kickstarters like this anytime soon. It's a proven brand with a finished manuscript and no dubiously flashy stretch goals.

I'm definitely looking forward to the new SWN. I'll likely mix and match elements of 1e in if I ever run it, but Kevin's stuff is so good I'd be in for the hardcover even if I never planned on running a campaign.

His Kickstarters keep doing better and better, though I think this might set the record for awhile. SWN seems to be his most popular line, even if I like Godbound more. Some of his upcoming projects sound pretty cool, but they'll have a tough time dethroning SWN. Wolves of God might pull it off but I have my doubts.

They have been doing better and better, but I think if Kevin was here he'd probably temper it by pointing out that he's got a lot more high dollar tiers on this one than he ever has before, and the margins are thinner than usual. So while it is a greater amount of raw cash, it didn't actually eclipse -- for instance -- Godbound profit-wise until it hit like $80k or something.

Yeah, I remember reading that early on in the comment section. He's already passed that mark by 40k with two weeks to go, though, so there's a good chance SWN will end up almost doubling the profits from Godbound's Kickstarter.

There's a small part of me that wants to splurge for the printed copy of all 1e material, but as I've already got it in PDF I've avoided temptation.

ARgh the description for the pledge level for Standard print says that the paper quality is the same as Premium; only that the inking is of lower quality. But on DrivethruRPG's site it says that there IS a difference in paper weight. Drive thru's 50# was unimpressive to me: very translucent (or maybe I was unlucky).

I've asked Kevin about this in the Comments. If it is really 50#, I think I'll pass on a hardcopy after all. 75$ USD is way too much for me right now.

There was a difference in DrivethruRPG's paper weight between standard and premium for older titles. IIRC though, standard paper weight was upgraded to match premium for books that were added after 2015 or so. It wouldn't surprise me if DrivethruRPG's web site just hasn't been updated yet to match the newer standard paper.

So, if you have a book printed that was added to DrivethruRPG before 2016, it'll use the old standard paper. If you have a book printed that was added after 2015, it'll use the new standard paper.

PHEW! Thanks Apparition and Jetstream. That's a relief. The last few books I got from Drivethru were... so-so in terms of quality. That's nice to know.

There's a new urban fantasy tabletop Kickstarter campaign by the name of Wicked Pacts. The setting is basically Dresden Files or The Secret World Legends with the IP scraped off. The game utilizes both dice and tarot cards.

Dan Davenport did a Q & A with the game's author here. The Kickstarter campaign has just over a week left if you're interested. The printed core rulebook is $28 (not including shipping), so it's certainly one of the cheaper tabletop RPG Kickstarter books I've seen.

If I have Dresden why do I want this?

Genuine question. What's the selling points?

The video answers it really. One of the main selling points to me is that it's not FATE. YMMV.

I have many super-hero and science-fiction tabletop RPGs, but dang it was difficult to find a good urban fantasy RPG that isn't FATE, World of Darkness, nor Shadowrun.

Here's hoping the Kickstarter hits $3,000. I'd like to see the Voodoo class.

I'd love it to hit Knights Templar but the core is solid

Does it? That's good to know... I'm fearful that it will get written off as just another modern magic game.
What about it looks interesting to you?
I like Modern Fantasy
The game mechanics is something similar to what I've been fumbling around with. Rolls+relevant attribute vs Target number is nifty, don't know if I like the actual target numbers. They seem low? when needing only 1 success. I would have to futz with it in order to confirm. I hate the 'Easy' Target Number. If it's Easy why the hell am I rolling for?

Fluff looks Mage-like perhaps? Would have to see more in order to give a good diagnosis.

It looks interesting, but that can easily turn into "nope, just another big steaming pile of poo."

*Living in the same area as The Polyhedral Knights, never heard of, or seen them before. Never seen or heard of a demo, seems weird to me.(not saying they didn't, just that I never heard of it)

I have enjoyed playing with the creator of Wicked Pacts and have found the game very fun and flexible. I like the education aspects of the dice with the target number. I am happy to back this game and hope that is reaches its stretch goals.

Just a reminder that there's just over three days remaining in the Kickstarter campaign. Also, according to the last update, three new science-fantasy classes will be added to the deluxe edition along with tools to import magic systems from Dungeons & Dragons OSR games.

"Starfinder is a thing now? Someone hold my beer..."

Yeah. According to rumor, the new science-fantasy classes and magic system import tools are coming at the expense of the originally planned religion section which I was actually looking forward to but c'est la vie. If that is the case, I just hope that Mr. Crawford will release a religion supplement at some point.

Not at the expense of. He didn't have room for the religion section cuz Transhuman got too big, so he put in the SciFantasy magic rules instead. Presumably because those are simpler.

It's all up on the Sine Nomine Google+

Ahh. Thank you. I try to avoid most social media, (including Google Plus). Still, I hope that religion will see the light of day at some point.

Might consider reading the Sine Nomine G+ group anyway. Even if you don't talk there, it seems to be where Kevin announces things first.

Sounds reasonable. In a game with a lot of cultures existing in it, what you want is a toolkit for generating religions; that's a product with enough scope and applicability to be a supplement of it's own.

Argh had to back down to PDF-only. 70$ CAD is an awful lot for me right now for a book that I'll only use as reference. I could just print out the generators that I need (as I do now with Sine Nomine products). If I had fewer kids to feed and other responsibilities, I'd do it.
