Dolmenwood PbP - New Rules suckas!

Best Selling RPGs - Available Now @ DriveThruRPG.com
OK, the IC thread is up, linked in my sig. I'll add a sig for this thread as well which we can use as the OOC thread since we're already using it and it has the OOC content anyway.

Oh, Tulpa Girl Tulpa Girl - you still need to fill in gear and abilities and whatnot. If need resources to do that let me know.

For the life of me, I can not figure out how to get more than one line entry to go into the kindred/class and spell/skills columns, sorry.

What the fuck. I can't fix it either. I'm no excel maven though. Try Hawkeye's fix, IDK. I'll remerge the cells.

Brielle - anyone who would think of calling her Gabrielle is now dead - works as a gamekeeper, hunter, and occasional guide for the town of Prigwort. Her parents, Millard and Sartora, arrived at the town many years ago when her older brother Edward was still a toddler, and she herself was just a passing thought. Her parents spoke little of their time prior to their arrival in Prigwort, often somewhat evasive when the topic was broached. Her father soon joined the Alegard, whom he served with for many years before his passing. Her mother made some coin as a seamstress. Edward followed into his father's footsteps when he became of age.

Sartora passed away when Brielle was but five, in childbirth, as did what would have been her younger brother. Brielle was apprenticed when she was thirteen to the Gamekeeper Theron shortly after the death of one of Theron's sons in an altercation with a wild boar. She is the youngest of Theron's assistant gamekeepers, the other two being his other son Orin and another young man named Tauran. The gamekeepers aren't always popular with the locals, especially when some of said locals are caught poaching.

Millard died a few years ago, shortly after Brielle's apprenticeship began and Edward's induction into the Alegard, the result of a broken neck from a fall from some stairs after too much drink. Edward was killed just a few months ago in his attempt to break up a fight between two bravos. Brielle's only physical legacy she has of her parents is a small unicorn statuette, carved out of a mushroom-wood not native to the woods around Prigwort.

Brielle has some small connection with House Wakelyke, occasionally selling them the various herbs, roots and berries that she collects to be added to their brewing. For similar reasons she has also made the acquaintance of Wyrmspittle the herbalist. She also has some small ties with the Alegard, from when her father and older brother were members of that organization.

Slightly taller than average, light of complexion and dark of hair, Brielle is of average appearance, and does little to accentuate her looks. She likes her solitude, and the general bustle and prattle of the town annoys her. Her demeanor is cautious, in the manner of one who has put her trust into others, only to have that trust betrayed. Still, she likes to help others when she can, even if that help is not always appreciated, and it is that desire that to help others that has allowed her to gain what friendships and acquaintances she has, despite herself. Between her father's death, and her own fears about not being in full control of her facilities when danger should appear, she keeps her intake of alcohol to the needed minimum that is necessary. In Prigwort, this does little to help how the locals view her. That said, she is more desirous of social acceptance than she would care to admit to herself, even if what she is willing to do to gain that acceptance is limited.

I got the kindred and class abilities entered, although it's not wrapping around with the longer entry lines. No joy with the spells/skills cell.

Do your best. That info is mostly for you anyway. We (well, you) can keep your writeup above up to date as well if that'll help.

I was able to merge the cells and then format it so the text wraps. Hope you don't mind me jumping in to help... for once, my excel skills come in handy.

Fenris-77 Fenris-77 do we all get sills? Or is that based on class and so on? I didn't see anything in the Knight entry. Let me know if I overlooked it.

Thank you, that's very much appreciated.

Still having problems with the spells/skills area, as it seems to be treated as just one cell.

Easiest thing for that would be to use the Control+Enter thing I mentioned earlier. Enter the field and go to the end of the first line, then hit Control+Enter, and then type the next line, hit Control+Enter, and so on.

I managed to get everything in, although it doesn't look very pretty.

Does anyone want to talk about alternative housing arrangements? If not we can get rolling.

Brielle might be staying with the head gamekeeper Theron and his son Orin temporarily. The letter might have been sent to Wyrmspittle the herbalist, as it would be somewhat common knowledge to anyone who cared that she stops by to sell various herbs to Wyrmspittle on a fairly regular basis. None of that is essential to the character, though.

Not essential, but useful and interesting. Staying with the gamekeeper it is. Alabaster Krup knows many things, so getting a letter to you is trivial.

It was mostly the two knights and maybe the cleric I was thinking of. There might be a Harrowmoor/St. Sedge set of rooms available, or perhaps something being kept for an absent knightly mentor. IDK. Just some idle thoughts.

Does everyone get skills or just the non-magical sorts?

Jubber not sure how Master Krup found Jubber, but what the hey!

So which characters are locals (besides Brielle), and which have shown up from other parts of the region?

I’m thinking that Stone is squire to an elderly otherwise infirm knight, if that’s possible. The knight doesn’t demand much of him which leaves him time to spare for other pursuits.

Let me know if that works, or if we need to change that or work any of it up.

Not sure if Wilsey has been sent off on his own yet, or is still staying with the church. If he's out, then I'd assume he's staying in a rented room in town somewhere.

And Wilsey is a local, or at least local to the area. He has no clue who his family is, but he was raised here by the church.

Jubber thinks that perhaps there is a thieves' guild in Prigwort?

That works just fine if you are willing to assume some responsibility for managing the knights affairs to some extent. He is a knight of House Harrowmoor I suppose? We can give him a house and a bit of land to the north of town. He has a cook and a grounds man for the indoor/outdoor work but you are sort of his property manager. I'll leave you to flesh out the details, which you can then send to me and I'll work it into the Prigwort fabric.

There is not, but perhaps you know a guy? Who also knows a couple of guys. Just a nice bunch of boys from New Jersey doing nothing at all illegal. So like a crew more than a Guild. You work the deets and I'll spin it in. Use the Gazetteer to help with details if you like.

Perhaps you know the local Vicar? She might have set something up for you.

Edit: There's a good write-up on her in the gazetteer.

hawkeyefan hawkeyefan - give your bed-ridden knight some men at arms as well. He'd have feudal responsibilities. Maybe a handful of spearmen and a couple of scout types or something (use you imagination). Those could be at the house or maybe more likely detached to Lady Harrowmoor or her Seneschal to help with the building of defenses and the like. Write a little blurb about them either way.

Edit: Your character has feudal responsibilities as well of course, but we can leave those fuzzy for now. I don't want to tie us into anything that will be inconvenient later. This also applies to JAMUMU JAMUMU 's Squire Tunnock.

I think we're ready to go. I'll edit the opening post to include some delivery details and we can start from you decisions after receiving the letter. Let's try to get the housing details sorted out in the next day or two so it doesn't linger and muck up events downstream.

Just a few notes about post structure and reactions to posts. Lets use normal text for IC stuff, with quotation marks for spoken words, and let's use [OOC] and italics for anything OOC that appears in an IC post (so intentions, commentary, or whatever). I would like us to be rigorous in our use of post reactions. To streamline this process in the IC thread a thumbs up reaction will signal agreement on the part of your character with the sentiment or suggested course of action in the post. You are of course free to actually post an IC response, but I want to eliminate posts that just say things like "I agree". The other reactions other than Thumbs Up are fair game and will have no mechanical meaning.
