Yeah. Petticoat Junction was a spin-off of The Beverly Hillbillies, and Green Acres was a spin-off of Petticoat Junction. There were a fair number of cross-over episodes among the various series.
All of which were cancelled during the "Rural Purge" of the 1970-71 season despite being highly successful, because they catered to an older demographic (45+) and the advertisers wanted to capture the youth market.

And it worked like gangbusters for CBS, as they captured and have held the youth and young adult demographics ever since!
 
Perhaps the issue isn't with Monarchism but with the quality of the kings we're purchasing? We need to stop buying the generic discount kings and get one we'd be happy to follow through the gates of Mordor.
I thought we voted for the king to act as a sort of executive of the week?
