Can someone give me a non-rule violating summary of whatever I missed

Nothing really - guy got upset about Nazis because of the existence of RaHoWa, simultaneously lamenting that he hoped he wasn't moderated for it, none of the staff responded, so then he ragequit the forum in a puff of imagined drama.

It was kinda surreal

Made even more surreal by the fact Gringr had already posted a lengthy Tristram quote saying the exact opposite of what he then claimed was policy.

Honestly, I think the ragequit had been planned from the start and he couldn't think of a way to alter his prewritten leaving speech to make it fit with the fact.s

I've never read RaHoWa, isn't it some kind of Christian's v. Muslim thing?

Did anyone say anything to the guy at all or did he just toss bait, then quit to the sound of crickets claiming...something?

If you make an honest effort to fit in with the Pub culture, you will most likely never have a problem here. Right from the start, he started talking about what kind of Democrat he was, discussing things that don’t need to be discussed, along with his first choice in usernames set him down a dark path. Out of all of us, I gave him the most leeway at first but some people don’t want to fit in. Maybe he’ll find a spot somewhere that’s more suited to his tastes.

I'm not sure anyone said anything to him. I don't recall any public posts in response.

its almost a cartoon charicature of a racist RPG - imagine like Hunter: The Somethening, but the monsters are lowest-common-denominator racial stereotypes (the kind that woulda seemed outdated by the 1950s). It's so over the top in it's stupidity it's almost hard to get offended by it

Nah, it's more about whites versus non whites, with the Jews being the shadowy evil force behind the latter. So pretty bog standard Nazi stuff.
Ah, ok, so a Racial "Holy War", gotcha.

Odd thing was from what I can see, is that he claimed we weren't against Nazi's. We are aren't we? I mean that's a rather easy low bar to take a stance against. So I guess I'm confused as to what he was on about. As to the white supremist Canadian metal band or whatever they are, I'd rather steer clear of those guys as well.

We weren't fun to troll. He kept smacking the flint together to cause sparks, but it wasn't catching fire and the fire trucks weren't coming.

So he either gave up, or retired that troll persona and re-registered under a new account to try something a bit more subtle. Time will tell.

Sounds like he forgot the kindling.

Edit: Since coming back from the surgery I've fallen far behind on my interest reading and haven't bothered to read any new topics really. I'll have to put a little more effort in because I'm sure I'm missing some interesting threads. Sadly I tend to fall asleep too easily currently so I can doze off mid thread. lol.

Between this (and I quoted this guy's post with mods' previous clarifications on hate speech, so how can he claim ignorance here) and "ANTIFAMAN" I would lay money that someone os taking the piss, or else trying to make the 'Pub look bad by farming for shit they can take out of context. Just my gut.

Especially as that username was chosen specially for us, as opposed to being used on TBP where it would actually be appropriate for the board.

That's the key. I saw his RaHoWa comment shortly after he posted it, and I deliberately ignored it. We aldready had him pegged as a troll, so I wasn't going to feed him.

how big is the overlap between antifa and Bill Maher fans anyway?

I don't have issue with TBP. I post there too, I got a temporary ban once for... thread drift (something I'd never dream of doing here, of course).

But I understand the challenges of running a massive site and recognise that its hard not to get caught up in the zeitgeist. I imagine running a forum circa 1968-74 would have been just as complicated (aside from the technological limitations).

That said, one thing I find quite funny is if you ever search for something on TBP and end up on a thread, from a few years back you can't fail to notice. historically, just how many banned user there are. You might be reading up on WEG Star Wars or something equally inoffensive, but pretty much on every page you see the red marker with BANNED next to a user or two, and its not just the same users.

It's like a Final Destination movie, you can be careful all you like but eventually the BAN comes and finds you.

That's a big part of why I stopped posting. It's like a crooked casino, the only way to win the game is by not playing:angel:!

Although I might have been banned anyway, pre-emptively or for activity on other forums showing "I'm a bad fit for TBP", which I think they've been doing. Since I haven't even logged in, I'd have no way to know:thumbsup:!

i wasn't going to say it, but there you go  more than once I've found some useful information there in an old thread and it's sort of become a game to count the number of banned users. Sometimes people I've posted with many times!

You're all seeing the negative. I see a drinking game!

My perspective. We have/had a list of awful games(thematically speaking mostly, maybe also rules). Someone screamed Nazis!! In the room/thread without being very specific. The thread was pulled. The poster flamed out because they couldn't yell Nazis at random. Life went on.
This is literally the only RPG forum with a "no politics" rule that doesn't make me feel like that. (Or Randomworlds if you count Discord.) Something I'm sure the mods can attest to, since I'm very keen on making sure this forum never makes me feel that way.

Maybe it's equally political to say that either RaHoWa is a racist game as it is to call any other game racist-- but it's not equally detrimental to the purpose of the rule.

I don't think he actually specified RaHoWa which was part of the problem. It was just" if I can't scream down a Nazi then this isn't a place for me! ".

I suspect if he'd said "RaHoWa is some racist Nazi like shit" I think he would have got, " Yup that's why it's in the list!".

It was the vagueness and aggressive my way or the highway to that really said "Aren't you special!"
